Hello
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer re G-Force in different processors: http://forums.soundspectrum.com/viewtopic.php?t=700 I still think that each machine has its own "personality" in visual emission apart from the settings.
I am continuing to blow away the Boston cab-taking public with a sweet 8" carputer screen accompanying reverb-drenched surf riffs, however, some problems running G-Force on one particular box are vexing me.
I am running jRiver with about 4000 song library. When I run the "now playing" with a GF viz window or windowed mode or especially full-screen the CPU usage gets clobbered as shown in task manager -- gforce.exe process pinging betwwen 92-98% of whatever-it-is, with the little green box filled showing a pegged-out central processor. At the same time the visuals get stuttery and slow, or, occasionally, freeze altogether. Commands such as "next track" also freeze the picture at this point, though thankfully the music plays right along. Knock the viz's out and the CPU needle drops right down and all commands work.
I fiddled for hours over the weekend. The best that I can say is if I start it up and don't run any other programs (internet gps etc) and dont fiddle with it it runs ok albeit slowly and with the cpu-graph still running at 100%.
This is an Intel Celeron running at 2.4gH w/ 512RAM, XP Home. My home Dell 8400 blazes GF at 80-90% CPU usage and another P4 carputer cruises over 90 but under 100%. Both have 1024 RAM so maybe that's crucial.
By the way in the tool bar in the section "particles, images and video " there are some boxes unchecked. Whats the deal with these and with checking or unchecking the whole deal (IE "shuffle checked particles"). Also what are the "themes"?
Anyway it seems the stuttery-running carputer used to run GF better. Perhaps an uninstall/reinstall?
What do people think?
Thank you,
barry

have you checked..
your task manager and killed the useless programs running in the background? checked for any "nasties" with some av and anti-spy? turned off all the enhancements of the player (EQ. and such)? these seem to be the big bogdowns for most others.
