I keep waiting for an update to Darkroom, but never seen a sign of it. I'm not sure what the technical difficulties are, nor if there is any development in the works. But I miss it. I know I can use some sort of screen capture to video applications (on the Mac there are a few), which I assume is what Windows users have had to resort too in the past. But Darkoom was a much more elegant solution.

I have heard nothing but then again I havent asked because I dont have a mac. Wink

the only thing I can think of would be some kind of obstacle when making it work with windows Question I really dont know, could be waiting for patent pending or maybe new and exciting Idea better than darkroom that will work on multiple platforms Cool .

I know I would like to make my own videos with G-Force but I guess I'll have to wait for it. Very Happy

I will send Andy an email this weekend asking about it Very Happy

I have been using GF gold for years and just decided movies would be nice for my pourposes. I began looking for a video screen saver and found mention of Darkroom but could not find a download for it for Windows systems (I only later realised it was no longer available for Macs as well). I wrote to SS and below is the reply I received yesterday (Aug 17, 2009).

Dear Barry,

This is an automated notice to inform you that we have responded to your Ticket #38376:

Hello Barry,

Thanks for writing to us.

We are currently in the process of redeveloping our Darkroom program, though I cannot give a specific timeframe on when this will be available again. We do plan on making this utility available to current license holders when development is complete.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance, and enjoy our visualizers!

Regards,

I have found a promising sounding 3rd party recorder but have not tried it yet. It is called Frapps video screen capture and more info may be found at http://www.fraps.com/

I f anyone knows of a recorder that can capture GF output at the same res as the built in screen shot tool I would appreciate knowing about it. I would like to be able to select the "correct" frame for my wallpaper and not just be limited to the ones I happen to "catch" as the visualizations are running.

===============================================

EDIT: I have just been playing with Frapps and its quite nice. It has screen shot as well as video capture capability. Good quality output of the videos and you can set the snapshot (screen shot) frequency to as little as 1 per second. VERY easy to use too. Its not freeware but ........

PS: I have no association with the publisher of this program in any way. If anyone knows of a good freeware program I would appreciate hearing about it.

Greetings! FRAPS is a great tool when it comes for using it for on-the-fly game recording. It is also easier than heck for screen capturing when needed.

Although if you purchase the program outright you have lifetime upgrades, BTW.

Keep in mind though having a higher end processor when recording hi graphic card games like World of Warcraft, even with a 3D video card will not only cut down on the playing lag time but also the playback "choppiness" of the recorded .AVI file.

To answer your question...I have not found anything close resembling the features of Darkroom. Although I have NOT used Darkroom myself.
