Problems with Whitecap 5.0.5. & WMP 11

Post by Jimbo »

I am having problems running Whitecap Platinum 5.0.5 on WMP 11 in Vista Home Premium - Whitecap will not load properly in WMP unless I run the programme as an administrator.
Likewise it will not run in stanalone unless I run it again, as an administrator. If I try to just run it properly I get an error message saying "Undefined function 'GetEngineVar'
Warning: the expected version in boot.txt doesn't match the actual verison".
Even when I run WMP as an administrator, I am unable to bring up the hotkeys or use any keyboard commands.
Interestingly, it also only works in Realplayer if I run that as administrator, in which case it works fine, hotkeys and all. But only as admin.
It's incredibly frustrating - the support team made a couple of suggestions and kindly gave me a courtesy upgrade from gold to platinum but it's unfortunately made no difference and I have no idea what to do.
If anyone has any clue what the problem may be I would very much appreciate any suggestions! Thanks.

try uninstalling and then deleteing the whitacap folders from both soundspectrum folders, one in program files and the other is in application files.

restart and then reinstall.

this may help

I have tried that solution but Whitecap still reports not having installed properly and asks me to re-install.

The Whitecap screensaver always reports the same error. And the Whitecap Standalone will only load if I 'run it as administrator'.

I've tried re-installing, uninstalling and re-installing , and uninstalling, deleting all the Soundspectrum folders and re-installing everything as administrator, so I have almost given up hope.

I just posted a reply but should also add that I have no problems running any of the programs (G-force, Whitecap orSoft Skies) on my Mac.

Is this a Vista problem?
