error decompressing cover art -55101

Post by nuytsia »

Hi!

This is going to sound like a really stupid question but do these tracks actually have cover art in them?

The reason I ask this is that I get what might be a similar message (error decompressing cover art -55101) ocassionally when using iTunes and GF 2.7.1.
When I had a look at the mp3 files involved I found they didn't actually have artwork in them. I use MMJB to load up my CD's and I've got a feeling that sometimes it might fluff the tagging when the CDDB lookup fails. Somehow the mp3 file indicates there's a cover image there when there isn't. I have no idea if that is actually possible, but when I told MMJB to remove the "non-existent" artwork and updated the tagging the error messages stop when I played the tracks again.
I'm now slowly going through my music library tracking down suspect albums as the error messages detract from GForces' generally loveliness.
Goodness it's tedious work!

Apologies in advance if this is totally irrelevant!

I think you are right - I suspect the path to the cover art has become disrupted, probably because i moved the music to another drive.

I recently purchased the Gold version of G-Force so I'm seeing cover art now. (Cool!)

Error -55101 just showed up for what I think is a invalid JPG file. The JPG displays fine in most image viewers but clearly has a bogus DPI setting of 2540 (most images on the web have something like 96 DPI).

Anyway, recompressing the image made the 55101 go away.

I get the same problem with album art in WMP 10, however, if I open the same files in iTunes (and hence confirm that the album art is actually in the file and not in the magic that is WMP) the album art is displayed fine :?

Yeah.... I'm beginning to think there is something funny going on. After getting another -55101 error I stopped/exited/restarted my player (JRiver's Media Center 10) and then the image came up fine in G-Force.

If I can narrow it down at all I'll reply with more info.
