Toolbar broke? :|

Post by Zert64 »

I recently got my current computer from a cousin of mine, and lo and behold, G-Force was installed on it.(Best part of the whole system, to be honest, hah)

Well, for the past month or so, it had been working great, no issues, nada.

During the past two or three days, though, my G-Force toolbar just stopped working. All the fields are blank, nothing responds.
Fresh Reinstalls dont make a difference, and i get the same problem.

Also, it's G-Force 3.1.2 - Platinum

Not the latest, i know, but i'm enjoying this version perfectly well.
Well, at least until recently.

Any idea on how to fix it? :\

All help is appreciated.

Make sure your firewall isn't blocking the Toolbar.

Checked and double checked. No restrictions have been up for the Toolbar, by my firewall whatsoever. And i made sure the toolbar had full access to the internet, and i rebooted the program, and still the same problem.

So that's not the issue.

The Toolbar just stopped running right, a few days ago.
For no particular reason, really.

Only abnormal thing that has happened to the system G-Force is installed on recently was a power outage a few days back, but i'm not sure if the Toolbar was working right before then.

And even in that case, i dont see why the Toolbar alone would stop working.

Are you using any sort of firewall software that may be blocking G-Force or the media player in which G-Force is running? G-Force and the G-Force Toolbar use the TCP/IP protocol (internet-based) to communicate between the Toolbar and G-Force and this is the reason that your firewall needs to be properly configured.

I've already allowed G-Force and all related programs full access, through Firewall Configuration(ZoneAlarm). Even after that, the Toolbar is completely unusable.

It could be that either my Wireless Router, or my modem has a built-in firewall, causing an issue, but i've never had any experience with either piece of hardware, besides the Caveman experimentation(Plugging it all in).

Dont think i'm willing to risk breaking either.

Since Routers have a built-in hardware Firewall, maybe try uninstalling Zone Alarm to see if that helps, may work. Also, check to make sure the Windows Firewall is turned off.

It's up to you.

Also, are you using the default sprites?? I had a problem with an added sprite that caused that same problem.

This one did the trick. I removed a few of the sprites i had added, and the issue patched itself up. :D

Thanks alot, i really appreciate the assistance. =)

Kinda odd though, that sprites caused a problem like that.
Ah well, at least things are back to normal.
