A colormap for critique
I am no good at scripting, so I used a program to create the colormap.
Is it good?? Or is it like another that was already made?? Any tips that a person who cannot understand scripts can understand??

You don't need to script to make maps; only when you want to control when a certain palette shows up in a custom-scripted slideshow.
Basically, BTW, ther're so many maps for GF out there that it's getting difficult to judge similarities. However, I recall certain similarities to at least one or two that're in the archives.
So I took your maps, applied a few waves of the text-editing magic wand and came up with what I'm fairly certain are unique schemes.
Ya got any more?????

The zip file worked okay but the 1st file I got lines like this:
<pre> <a href="http://home.earthlink.net/~markofkane/0">0</a></pre>
<pre> <a href="http://home.earthlink.net/~markofkane/2">2</a></pre>
<pre> <a href="http://home.earthlink.net/~markofkane/4">4</a></pre>
I'll have to look at them later, lunch is over here.

Colormonger is fairly simple, which is what makes it adictice. I create gradients in Photoshop and then open them in ColorMonger and tell it which portion of the image to make the map from. I think the harest part is coming up with names. You can also use photos as the source.
An interesting (to me at least) method I've hit upon is to add noise to the image, while still in Photoshop. The finished Colormap then has a more liquid (watercolor) look to it—although too much noise can make the map too pixelated.

Not to take the thread too far afield...
But I find that the hardest thing with colormonger and photos is to find just the right spot in a photo for the application to draw the palette from.
If you see a section of a photo you like, yet 'monger shows the mapped-out display as too banded or something similar, you hafta start all over.
I had to chuck a lot of "release candidates" for the Maps folder/archive precisely for that reason.

Sounds like a challenge. Actually I had worked on a program to make flowfield variations but I had to sort thru many DOAs to save a few good ones. I'd have to add some kind of UI but I really don't understand how to make great flowfields to begin with. However, I will look into it but please don't hold your breath. If only there was a program to make waveshapes and flowfields
MarkOfKane,
I like colormaps band8, Markmap23 and multi. I was updating my site and remembered that I forgot to add your colormaps. I had to start over, re-run the script maker and rezip ‘em up. But the update is now posted.
May I suggest adding something consistent with the name of the colors? Like Mark_ or MOK (Mark Of Kane) at the beginning of each name. That way if someone wants to look specifically at your maps they are all together in the toolbar.
Everyone,
I have created a few new flowfields and a good colormaps called chk_Five79, available on my website. If you have already downloaded you can get just the new stuff or download everything. I had created a really good flowfield but accidentally copy and pasted over it. I am still trying to recreate it but no luck so far.
I did some work on a flowfield program but just parsing the math is gonna take some work. Not sure I’m going to follow thru on it.
May the G-Force be with you.

Those are scripts so they go into the scripts folder. Since you don't have a Mac, all configs can be unzipped to C:\ if you check "Use folder names" in WinZip.By the way, where do those COLOR_CTRL texts supposed to go??
But for scripts you have to either uncheck "use folder names" and pick the scripts folder or you could unzip same as configs and then copy/paste or drap/drop them from "extras_scripts007" folder to the actual scripts folder.
I have just the newest configs in the "Updated" lines. Below all the update lines are the full package for PC and then for Mac.
I was trying something to make the scripts dynamic in what they show, i.e. using random numbers to run a choice of scripts but it has not worked as yet. Sent an email to Andy for help.
