Andy how does this new fact about macs using intel hardware relate to G-force's future development, will we see universal development and realease now that all the hardware will be similar, Obviously i understand the OS systems are still worlds apart, but as a developer are you excited about Macs using intel instead of PPC ? Will it make your life easier, or do you need to relearn how to code macs again. I know the xcode 2.1 builds universal versions, but with something so dependant on cpu, is it that straight forward for G-force to be ported.
A good question, Orbstah...
The Apple/intel announcement is neutral for us, the SoundSpectrum community... SoundSpectrum new math engine is made to use any architecture's vector computation (x86 or PPC altivec). Also, our future will heavily involve using the GPU, so between those two points, I didn't have much of a reaction other than that it ultimately will be good for everyone that all personal computers will run the same architecture. The nice thing is, just because Apple is starting with Intel in no way means they're permanently committed to them--they can jump ship to AMD anytime.
So, I, for one, look forward to better hardware, as long is it lets Mac OS X be as stable as it is on its present hardware.
