Free tool for creating (very) simple audio spectrum videos

Post by denvergomes »

One question I've seen asked a few times on this sub is how to generate a youtube visualization of a track you've created. The usual answer is to learn After Effects, but if you are a cheapskate like me there is this free tool for a bare-bones video: http://soniccandle.sourceforge.net/

The tool is java based and will render a bar animation over a static background. You get a selection of different bar styles and a color but that's about it for customization. Here's a video I made as an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIFxtndlH5Q

So, it's not going to be confused for a trap nation vid, but it's a quick & free way to turn your existing tracks into something you can post on yt!

(It might sound like I am being critical of this tool but I really like it. Straghtforward, easy to use, does what it is designed to do effectively.)

Hi denvergomes

Thank you for the info.

I have to ask, I'm pretty sure that you need a license to post videos using Soundspectrum Software. If you're unlicensed there is a possibility that they may ask you to take down your vid.

Yeah, I've been also doing this for a short time before I joined the forums. However, because I kept my YouTube videos of G-Force private, the licensing issue is the only reason. SoundSpectrum states on the EULA, that:
No commercial usage rights or rights of public display of visual output of the Software in any form are granted under this EULA, but may be available under a separate agreement provided solely by Licensor.
That goes for YouTube vids as well, except when SoundSpectrum produces their own videos. If one would attempt to use a screen recording program and capture footage of the software, the likely chance is that if it gets uploaded on YouTube, then it becomes a copyright infringement because it contains other authors' work that the producer has not obtained the proper permission from the company to do stuff like that.

Hello DanPin

Actually you do have to seek permission from SoundSpectrum before uploading any video's, and you have to include a 'courtesy of SoundSpectrum' clause. Contact Brandon who will guide you through this.
