I've just got Darkroom and I'm trying to figure out what the video output engine could be, i would assume it is quicktime but that's not highlighted when it comes to choosing it. I have an eMac OSX and the visualizer that comes with iTunes. Do I need to download G force as well and how about some literature on how everything works?
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated, thank you kindly.

Darkroom is an app to convert the output from G-froce into a video form.
So in answer to your questions,
Yes you do need to download G-force in order to use it,
not 100% sure weather you need a full version of Quicktime or not, but quicktime is definetely required.
Darkroom isnt really my speciality seeing as its mac specific, but download G-force
http://soundspectrum.com/g-force/nph-download.pl
and quicktime
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/
and then play with it a bit, if you need more help come back and we will see what we can do for you
Help from the authors is available here too

hope this helps

The Engine you want to select in Darkroom can be either White Cap or G-Force. Both are provided in the G-Force you downloaded [I think—perhaps White Cap is a separate download]. I'm not sure what computer system you are using. But the app comes with an installer that should place all the files n the required places.
On a Macintosh, using iTunes, it places everything in the iTunes Plug-in folder; that is where I go to select eithr of the two engines. When scripting, be aware that the engine you select is linked to the files that work with that engine. G-force employes Flow fields, Color Maps and wsave shapes. White Cap uses les paramaters.
Tip:: listen to the song in an audio player in which you can note the time passing. Then note down on paper the points in the song where you feel visual changes should sync up: guitar solos, vocals, etc. The when scripting, you can choose what happens at those crucial moments. By the way, it is not necessary to script. You can select Boot.txt in the G-Force folder as you script and create a random visualization>movie output.

Re: Darkroom help
There's a new version of SSD now available that make engine selection easier... Just install GF 3 first and run it, and you'll be all set.Francis Beausjour wrote:I've just got Darkroom and I'm trying to figure out what the video output engine could be, i would assume it is quicktime but that's not highlighted when it comes to choosing it.
