For Jerohm...Whatever Happened...?

Post by JayPro »

...to the two waveshape/particle examples you used for some of your Extras backgrounds?
One looked like floating clocks and the other like a bunch of notes.
I *really* got a kick out of them.
Please share if you have the code.... [-o<

Andy rules with an Iron Fist :P ! I suspect that the GF4 release date superceded, giving the proper time and attention to his scrutinization. That said, I was NOT totally satisfied with the trajectory code either (I can never leave well enough alone).

I would like to have SoundSpectrum [continue?] to view me as an asset, incentivise others to continue to support the development efforts and REALLY make them feel they are getting value for their hard earned dollars. When I know that Andy isn't planning to make something of mine part of a general release, I will release it to the public. I hope this make sense.

Allow Me Rebuttal This-a-Way:

Andy is nowhere near the benevolent despot...in terms of despotism, that is---that you might think. He is, in fact, quite benevolent, tho. The only thing I could possibly observe is that he has a personal aesthetic vision of GF that he clings to like an experienced mountain climber.

That said, he does not spurn discussion of config design in any way. Indeed, this is why he has a Contributors page. There are as of now 24 on the list, each of which contains heaps of *stunning* effects that never made it to *any* release version...at all.

And there's this unmonitord forum, too. There was a poster here with the S.N. "DD" who shared more than a dozen particle formulae...*none* of which, BTW, ever made it to any release version or even the contributor's page. Yet he still did it...with the hearty encouragement of other forum contributors including my co-moderators, I hasten to add. His effects are included in my collection and they're rather spiffy.

With all that cleared up (I hope), I hope I can convince you to do the same. Your compositions might not be as you would have them look; but so what? I mean...think about it this way. As you did in the very engaging dialog you had that ultimately led to the 2112 Rush Starspin and Polygon Promenade particles, why not present code you have right now along with whatever //comments to show where you would optimize to reflect what you want to happen.

Just between you and me, I think this would lead to a fascinating discussion of the basic s and t functions, both of which some of our best config artists/programmers have not adequately clarified for dummies like me.

](*,)

Again, this is just an invitation. You're under no duress to refrain from sharing, nor am I forcing you to post what you think isn't ready.

I'm just trying to say that the SoundSpectrum Chiefs are not as wrapped about the axle over config development as they are about getting any and all functionality/compatibility issues dealt with with dispatch.

Now that GF 4 is out with it's myriad expansions in gut-level versatility (c.f. Version History in Documentation), now is as good a time as ever IMO to test the waters of config design as never before. I've pushed *vociferously* for Forum-level discussion on effect-composition sharing literally since Day One; and I still bear the hope that this comes to be.

Your indispensable contributions from the beginning have been in my view a real starting point for this. I see no further excuses now, as the *visual* aspects of SoundSpectrum **Music Visualization** products have been lagging behind development-wise.

My 2¢.
