I’d like to use a visualization as a backdrop on a (private) family photo slide show, now I’ve seen a few on Youtube but the quality of the visualization on the whole is very poor, do any of you good people have any recommendations for video capture software?
Kind regards Glyn

software no idea, but ...
external DVD recorders via S-Video can do a very credible capture job. They are readily available on ebay (without TV tuners) for very reasonable prices. You would still probably require software for editting the final result. Even for private use however, I'm not so sure if this is technically (not) a violation of licensing...
( for example, I own a 'Toshiba D-R410', which has kindof run of the mill performance, but is very acceptable if you use it in its highest quality capture mode. )
