Newbie Please Need Help

Post by seamonkey »

Hi everyone,
I purchased G-force months ago but despite reading quite a bit, I seem to lack the still to have it running how I believe it may be able to.

Firstly, should I be changing windows default resolution to meet the best possible environment for g-force?
I have dual monitors, PC is quite high spec, graphics card is a 8800 GT
Both monitors display a maximum res of 1920 X 1080, so thats what I have them set on, ( I think they are 16:10 ratio rather than the 16:9 norm?)
But on to my questions....should I be changing windows res, should I be pressing the M key when g-force is running to change its resoltion. The letterbox effect is not great.
Is there a preffered media player that in practice give best results?
Id like to stretch g-force over the 2 monitors (I guess when either music is playing or the screensaver.
Any help at all would be VERy much appreciated
Kind Regards
:-)

A.you can hit the m key while running GF it wont hurt
B. there is a way to get rid of the letter box

open the tool bar and click visual prefs look in the bottom left corner and make sure the settings for frame height and width are set to no limit

make sure your screen res matches the same as the setting on the right hand side in the resolution settings.

if those dont make the letterbox go away then you need to open the prefs file found in the soundspectrum folder located in your documents and settings under application data.

open the prefs file for the player you use and the stand alone and look for this pref

FrameSizeLimit.Height = 10000
FrameSizeLimit.Width = 10000

make it 10000 each just as you see here

this should take away the letter box and its how I have mine set if it doesnt work dont worry we'll get it going the way you want.

Ok the screen saver has an option to span both screens but if you want GF in widowed mode or full screen to span both you need to go into the options for your video card and set your desktop to reflect either a clone, expanded desktop or two separate screens.

personally I didnt think GF looked to good while spanning both screens cause the middle of GF is diminished.
