C-media Oxygen 8788 cards (bluegears enspire) supported?

Post by fluidflo »

I'm trying to setup the g-force screen saver/standalone. I'm on Vista 32 and have a Bluegears b-Enspire Sound card (link). It has a CMI8788 (link) sound processor. Does gforce standalone support this kind of sound card? Or does anyone use gforce with it successfully?

The problem is that I'm using a crappy HTPC software that totally sucks for music and has 1 garbage visualization that doesn't even work, called SageTV. Its actually quite expensive, but a friend who bought it and regretted it gave me his key for free. I never say no to free and I find its TV features are very good, just the rest of it is terrible. I've run gforce standalone with it successfully for a while with standard motherboard sound. But I've upgraded and this is the first time I've run into trouble with gforce, ever.

None of the input options for standalone has any sound with this sound card. I do have stereo mix in Vista and have enabled it and everything. The problem is stereo mix has no sound going through it (little sound bar in control panel sound util has a green bar that shows sound activity). Only the output tab has an option with sound (C-Media Oxygen HD Speakers) but that is not an option in g-force.

Any idea how to get it working, or is this sound card just totally not supported? Thanks!

Oh well, thanks. I wonder if there is any kind of "sound proxy" type thing that I could use to create a sound connection that GForce whould understand?
