Why Is There Nothing To Install When I re-Download 3.7.2???

Post by JayPro »

I cleared all traces of the latest beta so as to install the latest stable version and the Installer tells me just what you see in the title of the post, i.e. nothing to install.

Matter of fact I also tried running the beta and also received an Error 18 message. Maybe these issues are related.

Hi jaypro

Do you mean 3.7.5? I was under the impression it was the latest stable version.

Yeah...I mean 3.7.5. And I just now tried re-DL'ing it and I it still says "nothing to install".

I've never had this message before with any previous installation *ever*, and I'll repeat my suspicion that this is going hand -in-hand with the Error 18 problems that I and others have been getting with the 3.8 beta.

when you say " tried re-DL'ing " I just redownloaded 375 just to see if there were any probs it downloaded fine.

I also have the beta installed and I have no issues with the "error 18" bug at all for any of the players I installed GF for.

winamp
wmp
musicmatch
monkey audio

wonder why GF works great for some and not for others :?

I get the error 18 code and says reinstall. The reinstall went fine and its running right now. I wonder how long it will be before it bugs up again ? guess I should have kept my big mouth shut!!

One big question before I continue:

How'd the &*($%(^ did you get that sprite to show in its natural colors? Do you have a pro license?

Anyway:

I did a complete purge of all SoundSpectrum products from my iMac HD and did a clean re-install of the beta.

I even replaced the bundled configs with my own collections (and I have a lot more) in hopes that the extra load wouldn't hurt things.

So far so good. I've launched it three times so far this afternoon and no error message.

Yet I anticipate a relapse of the problem. I'll just hafta bite the bullet and make clean reinstalls each time it happens till things are resolved.

Look here:

If you want to help Andy, replace the .dll file and save the log file and send to him if you can get the error to come up again.

sorry about the screenshot I have 2 the original without the star cruiser and the one I altered for fun, I chose the wrong link by accident when posting the shot.

It seems winamp will no longer run while GF standalone is running every time I try it crashes unless GF is not running.

Perhaps it might be a good idea for me to mention that when I had that Error 18 message I was using the standalone.

EDIT: I have an iMac. ".dll" files don't exist on them, so I'd have to use a keystroke particular to Mac users to document the matter on a console-type interface. I only used it once at his instructions, so my recollection if it is hazy.

Maybe when I ditched the Prefs it helped matters.

oops, I assumed it was for both the Mac and Windows. Funny that Error 18 occurs in both, though.
