Sound card for Dell XPS400 so G-Force will run

Post by facmanboss »

My Dell XPS400 came with builtin sound. It does not provide the output needed to run G-Force as a standalone program. G-Force runs within MusicMatch Jukebox OK but limited. SoundSpectrum tech support has confirmed this.

Any recommendations for a decent sound card so I use G-Force standalone? the sound card should be current in terms of technology (not already outdated).
Thanks

I have a creative soundblaster and it has more than enough options but becarefull there can be problems for someone who buys a computer that already comes with windows like DELL and HP.

depending on the type of licence your windows came with you may have trouble with activation when you install the new soundcard or make other hardware changes. I had this issue when I upgraded my graphics card for some reason changing hardware can mess up the licencing.

here is a link that will have some more info.

basically if something bad happens with windows after you change your card you will have to call microsoft tech support and get them to help you revalidate your windows licence.

Thanks.
In researching problems for the Dell XPS series, it is designed with extra slots for such a thing (could have purchased a board as an option). I have to change the BIOS settings. Also have to rerun the cable to the front headphone and microphone jacks and new soundboard. Also need to completely remove the installed sound drivers and software before any of that. Other problems seem to be hit and miss problems during use with no particular pattern. I didn't see any issues with licensing from a new card add-on for the XPS series. Soon as I can figure out which card I want, I'll bite the bullet. Wish me luck...
Thanks again
