Toolbar does not work
Toolbar does not work
Well the whole point for me buying the platinum version was to be able to control and customize my visualizations but anytime I try to open the gforce toolbar, you can see where on the screen it loads up (the outline of it at least) but its as tho its a video glitch and none of the controls can be seen. This happens whenever i try to open the toolbar while MWP, the standalone, or itunes is running. However if i try to just open the toolbar without any of those running, the toolbar does open properly but i cant change any settings or anything, making it completely useless. I've read through the forums and it seems the toolbar is having LOTS of issues, even problems carried over from previous versions. I do have the latest version and i have tried uninstalling/reinstalling and it still does not work.
Dont get me wrong, the visualizations are sweet, but the whole reason i paid $20 is to be able to customize the way it looks and so far thats exactly what i have NOT been able to do. Please shed some light on this for me.

here is some info about this subject thanks to gorus.
As for the toolbar, it will search for a local instance of G-Force running and try to connect to it via TCP/IP. So, if a firewall or security software blocks this attempt, the toolbar won't connect and the fields in it will be blank. More on that here:

it has also been noted the Apples bonjour service will sometimes interfere with the way GF works .

Global Preferences problem
Hi,
I had the same trouble, after upgrading to 3.8.5, I had NO Toolbar control over Standalone (like Toolbar was not seeing Standalone). I thought perhaps the preferences from the previous version were of issue. So I trashed the G-Force Global Preferences (...Library/Preferences/SoundSpectrum/G-Force/Global Preferences.txt). I then restarted G-force Standalone so it would create a new Global Preferences file. I quit again and restarted G-Force Standalone. Toolbar was then working with Standalone.

Hi,
I registered in this forum specifically to answer the same problem as rcman57
I too had lost complete control of the toolbar. Hardly any of the menu options were visable and changing any of those that were had no effect on G-force.
Thanks to juxtiphi's post I sorted this problem when I uninstalled Bonjour. Perhaps this fix should be added to the site's main troubleshooting section.
My Specs:
Vista SP1 64
8GB DDR2 RAM
Intel Quad QX9650 3.6ghz
GTX 280

even though its bloatware its not going away any time soon so I think that maybe GF should learn to play nice with Bonjour thqat way there are no more probs.
