Version 3.7.5 does not work in iTunes

Post by t8r »

Hey all,
I'm pretty new to G-Force, first of all.

I have purchased Platinum edition, installed it, and it works great in WMP 11. However, it does not work AT ALL in iTunes. Infact, when I hit ctrl+T to activate G-Force (yes, G-Force is checked as my default visualizer), the screen goes black, and iTunes shows up as 'Not Responding' in task manager. I watched my HD indicator light, and it doesn't seem to be going crazy, and the CPU doesn't shoot up either. It's almost like iTunes is trying to find G-Force, but it can't, so it just gives up. There is no way to exit from the black screen replacement of G-Force other than to hit ctrl+alt+del and end the iTunes task, then wait another 3 minutes for iTunes to start back up.

Is anyone else having the same problem? I'm running the latest version of iTunes and, obviously, the latest version of G-Force at this time.

Thanks everyone, I REALLY like this program from what I've seen in WMP11, but nearly all of my songs are .m4a's, so I am required to listen to them through iTunes and wold LOVE to see G-Force work its magic with my library.

Having the same issue

Post by rylennel »

I am having the exact same issue- I'm running the latest version of G-Force (purchased Saturday 28 March 2008) and I just can't get it to work with or find iTunes. What makes me so upset is it was represented to me that it would work with iTunes before I bought it- otherwise I would have saved my money. It's a great program, so if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

which version of GF did you buy?

platinum will allow you to install GF for multiple players, the gold version is for specific players only so if you happend to choose the wrong player when downloading your exe the installer wont recognise itunes.

or

how old is your version of Itunes?

in the past itunes and GF didnt get along so well so if your version is much older than the latest GF updating itunes to its latest version may help.

if this is the case make sure you uninstall GF before updating itunes

"which version of GF did you buy?"

I bought the most recent Platinum version. The one that says it works with iTunes. On the first install I chose iTunes only, because I don't ever use WMP et al- but when I removed and reinstalled GF I chose multiple players. GF works fine with WMP.

"How old is your version of iTunes?"

I have the most recent version of iTunes as of 28 March 2008. What chaps my hide is that it should have been disclosed pre-purchase that G-Force and iTunes don't play well together. It's a great, great program, but right now it has me tearing my hair out.

that could be your problem right there.

in the past every new version of itunes did something to mess with the way GF works within itunes and andy fixxed it so many times. The last version of GF came out before the newest version of itunes and so GF may again need to be updated to work under the new programming for itunes.

imho opinion itunes is not worth the trouble, it invades your entire computer and the bonjour service messes with GF also.

try foobar or winamp for an alternate player GF works very well with winamp which is what i use.

That kind of defeats the purpose. I like iTunes, and have no interest in using another player. I like G-Force too, but if they had told me that it didn't work with iTunes I wouldn't have bought it. It was suggested that I use an older version of G-Force, so I'm going to try that out and see how it works.

If your purpose is to watch GF then using any player that has no problems would be the point but since you want to go with Itunes you get what you get.

if you are not happy just ask soundspectrum for a refund and I think they will grant it.

as far as any older versions go not all of them worked well with itunes so good luck,

its been a while since andy updated GF so maybe the next will have the fix you need.

I've had the same problem with J River Media Center with every version AFTER 3.7.2. It'd be interesting if you installed 3.7.2 and it worked OK, as it does for me. Let me know if you get anywhere, I'd like this problem resolved so I can start taking advantage of updates.
