WinAmp 5.35 and G-Force 3.7.1

Post by BerndLiebermann »

Hi,

I am a highly satisfied G-Force User and recently upgraded to 3.7.1, but now Winamp freezes when i start visualization or try to enter the visualization config dialogue box. After manually removing the vis_G-Force.dll, i can enter vis config dialogue box again. Uninstalling and reinstalling G-Force didn't help. In Standalone and WMP everything seems to work fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bernd

P.S.: O/S XP x64

Don't know exactly what i did, but it works fine now. I had just setup DrWatson and restored the vis_G-Force.dll from the recycle bin to send a detailed crash report to Andy, and was quite surprized when i couldnt reproduce the crash anymore.

Cause might have been an old and obviously - for what reason ever - renamed vis_GForce.dll (without the minus sign) that coexisted in the plugin directory together with the new vis_G-Force.dll...

Anyway, glad it works now.

Regards,
Bernd

I had the same problem a few weeks ago I told Andy but I dont think they could reproduce the failure so I never heard back on this subject but after reinstalling winamp 3 times it somehow worked itself out and I have not had the problem since.

glad to see you're able to enjoy GF again :D

take care juxtiphi

Let me know if ya have any more info on this. Also, you may want to try the latest G-Force beta and see if it has this problem:

http://www.soundspectrum.com/support/beta_list.html

Please post to this message thread if the beta solves the issue or not.

Thanks,
Andy

All the 3.7.4 beta versions lockup winamp and error winamp on both my machines. Also in WMP11 it freezes.

this may sound wierd but I recently installed a vis called geiss.

at the same time I downloaded the latest WC beta for testing.

I only ran geiss one time and it didnt work for me. I then ran the Whitecap beta and it wouldnt work at all. I drove myself crazy looking for answers but the only thing different was geiss.

As soon as I uninstalled geiss the Whitecap beta worked fine.

now I wont say for sure that it was the geiss vis or not but as soon as it was gone Whitecap worked just fine so take that for what its worth.
