Winamp 2.95. WinXP+SP2.
Strangely, the installation of v3.60 did not overlay my "preferences" file as it has always done... even though the "replace files" checkbox was checked.
Furthermore, the version in the resulting unchanged preferences file still shows v3.57, instead of v3.60 as I would expect.
And yet, when the program launches it shows v3.60 correctly (despite what the preferences file shows). It's obviously using the retained preferences file because my specified font (Comic Sans) is not the default.
So... was this intentional, or accidental? This is very unusual behavior as if you had added any new items they did not show up.
I then deleted the preferences file, to let G-Force regenerate it.
Sure enough it did, but the version shown is still 3.57 (even though the program definitely puts out its own correct 3.60 name). Yes, it is now different (i.e. default values), but pretty different from earlier default versions (e.g. from v3.57) in many of the variable formulas, which seem to have been "simplified" in v3.60.
Furthermore, there is a new DMln item which I now see in the "new" version built by v3.60, which was not inserted into the "retained" version that came out of the install. Again, if this had been a crucial new variable it did not show up in the preferences which came out of the v3.60 install... even though I DID let it "replace" all files (as recommended).
Again... is this all intentional, or accidental and unintended?
G-Force Plat.3.60: install did NOT overlay Preferences!
Re: G-Force Plat.3.60: install did NOT overlay Preferences!
The version number that appears in the prefs file is what version the prefs file is compatible with (so it doesn't always match what version you currently have unless).
As for prefs the go away or show up, it's because they're no longer used or they're only set to their default value on demand (from some user action).
