G-Force will not respond with MediaMonkey

Post by frog »

Hello All,
I am very new to G-Force. Having heard great things about it, I decided to try out the trial version to see if it was as good as described. Unfortunately, I have run into a bit of a problem. The program will open, but does not respond. Here is the tedious stuff;

Subject:
Program launches, from MediaMonkey, but does not respond.

Your System Information
Version of your OS: Vista Ultimate 32 Bit
Version of G-Force: G-Force_375_MediaMonkey
Version of your media player: MediaMonkey_V3.0.2.1134
Graphics hardware info: ASUS EAH3870/G/HTDI/512M Radeon
CPU info: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz
Other info: Memory: CORSAIR XMS2 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

Detailed Description of Bug
I have downloaded the trial version twice, from the G-Force site, to ensure that I have a good copy. Instillation was very normal, I did a reboot, and launched MediaMonkey. I then went to the visualization configuration and selected G-Force. I then launched the visualization, and the program launches, but does not respond. I get a small graphics box, with nothing happening.
I have uninstalled the program, rebooted, downloaded a fresh copy, reinstalled, rebooted, and still nothing.
Oddities that I did notice;
- My firewall blocked the program from accessing the Net, despite the fact that upon install I unchecked the request for distribution of statistics. Upon re-launching the program I allowed the program thru my firewall, and still no luck.

Description of How to Replicate Bug

See Above

I would like to get this program working. I like the potential for the platinum series to be able to work with a lot of my players.

I appreciate any and all help.

two things have come to light,

1. when you do an uninstall you need to delete all traces of the soundspectrum folder that contains the prefs files for GF. its located in the application data folder found in your documents. deleteing this folder has helped many people get GF installed correctly

and

2. If apples bonjour service is installed on your machine it can cause a conflict with GF.

Hi, juxtiphi
Thanks for the reply, I did as you suggested, and still no luck. I did find the folder. The program still hangs.
Does anyone run G-Force on the Vista OS? I’m just wondering if they are compatible.

Here is some more information from the Windows error dialog. Perhaps some very smart person can use this information.

I use GForce with J River Media Center and have been having very similar problems post-3.7.2. I suggest you install 3.7.2 and see if you have the same issue.
