Last year I have discovered an absolutely stunning effect of running G-force visualizer in WMP in a transparent mode on top of bright and colorful fractal desktop background. I've been using "Transparent Windows" for making WMP (or winamp) window transparent. The blending of G-force colors with desktop background colors was absolutely unbelievable. Everything was implemented on my old centrino laptop running a non-discrete (intel gma smth) video card under windows XP sp1
Yesterday, I decided to get this effect on my much more powerful desktop. I've installed G-force 3.6.1, Windows SP2, WMP 11 and Transparent Windows 2.0. I have Ge-force 6600GT with latest drivers installed. Now, whenever I move transparncy bar in WMP, instead of visualization and the window frame getting transparent (as on my laptop), I get a flicker without even a bit of transparency.
I accidentally ran into a topic on this forum where Andy recommended to disable the use of OpenGL in preferences. I did that and the flicker disappeared; however, I believe non-OpenGL G-force is equivalent to version 3.1 and doesn't look as awesome as 3.6.
Is there a way to remove flicker while running transparent visualizations without disabling OpenGL mode?
Would it be possible to implement this feature in future versions to select the opacity level of visualizations in normal and full-screen modes?
flicker while running transparent G-Force visualizations
Re: flicker while running transparent G-Force visualizations
In a few months, you should see Direct3D support in G-Force, which should play nicer with Windows in general. Stay tuned for more.kos wrote:Last year I have discovered an absolutely stunning effect of running G-force visualizer in WMP in a transparent mode on top of bright and colorful fractal desktop background.
