Just got the Platinum a few days ago and haven't had much time to sit down and relax with my favorite screen saver, especially with summer coming on. What I've seen so far, it seems cool. It seems smoother, and that more is going on at the same time than in previous versions. I didn't have that omg moment where I was overwhelmed with the changes, but I've had GForce for several years now and the newness of the program has diminished somewhat. Having said that, I have no regrets for updating to the latest version.
I ran the new release when it came out and liked it. Personally I like the new UI. I also own AEON and Whitecap though and like having it all uniform.
Been running the latest WhiteCap the last 2 weeks though so I have not spent much time with GF5 yet, But I am running it right now and loving what I see

Trying to love
I used to love, love, love G-Force. I use the stand-alone Platnum version. The last fully working version I enjoyed was v4.2. I updated to v4.4 and had too many problems. For some reason it seemed that the list of monitor resolutions went away and from then on Full-Screen mode hosed me up. I reverted back to v4.2. The policy of SoundSpectrum of not providing previous versions forced me into that situation. I would have rather tried the v4.3, v4.31, v4.32. I waited patientiently for the next version to hopefully fix some of the issues I was having. Finally 5.0 was released, I was pretty excited. I still can't go into Full-Screen and have stability on my machine. It seems that some of the keyboard shortcut keys have changed, I don't see how that is an improvement. I'm pretty familliar with the old interface, and found the new toolbar similar. I looked and I still don't see a screen resolution list and the bottom drop-down menu that contains the Sprites, Particles, Images, and Video, seems to only have the Sprites and Particles. Do I have old version blinders on, and I'm overlooking something that should be straight forward? One thing though, I do find that the visual is a bit smoother in v5.0, but not significantly worth all the hasle I seem to be having. The new color maps that were provided from this forum seemed to increase my enjoyment more than the so-called update of G-Force. I'll try the 5.01 but don't have high hopes at this point. Now I only have a little love for G-Force.

Hey, I've got platinum and I've used it a couple of times.
The first time I opened it up in itunes, I appreciated the new option changer overtop of the running visualizer, but I thought changes I had made were going to be saved. My changes took about 60-90 minutes to set up (regarding colormaps, flowfields, waveshapes, sprites, etc).
The next time I opened it up, my custom settings were all empty. That was annoying, but I did spend a second significant period of time making all my changes again, only inside the GForce Toolbar, not during the visualizer.
So when I opened it up for the 3rd time, 3 out of the 4 were running according to my changes and were saved so I was happy about that.
I don't get what the 1,2,3,4,5,set round buttons are for at the bottom. If you customize your GForce you shouldn't need those.
I wasn't sure if keyboard commands like up/down arrow keys were going to work anymore, specifically to adjust the intensity settings of the GForce.

G-Force 5 is FANTASTIC
I upgraded from previous version to 5.0.
I didn't think it could get any better than the previous version, but 5.0 is awesome.
I have Aeon Gold and G-Force Gold. They'ere both great but I see the smoothest transitions with G-Force.
Aeon transitions are not as smooth and seemless as G-force (using the same setup on my pc for both visualizations). Hopefully, the next version of Aeon will be as smooth as G-force. Otherwise, they are both flawless.
Thanks again for building and upgrading them.

Hello Rebeccas

You asked if SoundSpectrum accept donations, have just noticed in one of your other posts you already have purchased GF Platinum???rebeccas wrote:Hey, I've got platinum and I've used it a couple of times.

Sprite transitions being expensive
I mean in addition to the $ I paid for Platinum. If its extra expensive to transition user photos as sprites as jerohlm said (or whatever his name is), then maybe you guys should have a little fundraiser and ask for donations.
Hello Rebeccas
Well, if you're feeling in a generous mood then I am sure that Andy O,Meara, the big boss of SoundSpectrum would welcome any donation you care to give.

I like the new graphics on G-Force 5 but some of the old functions no longer work i.e.:BTT wrote:Hello All

When writing a script 'KillRunningScripts();', or shift K on the main screen fails to end the script. Aeon 3.3 suffers from the same problem. I have raised a tag for Aeon and G-Force about this and hope to hear from the team soon.
Also I have found that in both G-Force 5 and Aeon 3.3 that scripts saved as CTRL or Key and a number (e.g. CTRL 1 or Key 1) do not work, but renaming them to CTRL or Key and a letter (e.g. CTRL W or Key W) does work.
The scripts named CTRL 1 etc. used to work in G-Force 4.2.
I realise that entries into C++ programs are handled differently depending upon whether they are chars, ints or floats and if the program is expecting an integer or float and a character is entered it can cause problems, but I was taught to write my programs to accept a number as a char input and then convert it to an int or float (if required) or to print an error message to screen for incorrect entries. I also found that numbers entered as characters can still be used in 'if' and 'while' statements.
