G-Force Standalone 4.4.0..can't exit full screen mode!

Post by Saganized »

Used to be I could DOUBLE-CLICK in the G-Force active window and it would automatically exit Full Screen mode. It doesn't work like that anymore. Why not?? Please put that functionality back into it, please?

At least make it so a person can press Esc and exit Full Screen. It's ridiculous having to Ctrl-Alt-Del, press the Windows key, go through all the F1-F12 keys, and pretty much jump through hoops just to get out of the Full Screen mode!

This is three little "buggy" issues I've encountered already, and I just installed it not half an hour ago. I did NOT uninstall the previous version first, for your info...I simply installed the new version OVER the OLD one. I was running 4.3.2 before. I am tempted to uninstall 4.4.0 and just go back to 4.3.2. Too "buggy." Please...check out the errors I've found, and if possible, suggest a fix to them. Thank you.

APPENDED INFO: Per the Screen Help, Shift-Alt-Return ("Enter???") doesn't work, either. When I press Shift-Alt-Return (Enter) in a G-Force window, it doesn't switch to Full Screen. Neither does Shift-Alt-Return (Enter) get me OUT of Full Screen. Thank you.

this is a known issue, for some time now I have been right clicking the fullscreen vis window and then guessing where the slot to exit fullscreen is in the invisible context menu and I have gotten use to doing so but its a MAJOR a pain in the ass.

I can remember Andy saying something about why the context menu isnt visible when in full screen but I cannot remember what it was.

Hello Saganized

Had the same problem trying to exit G-Force, this works for me so perhaps you might want to give it a try. Shift / Enter. Many users like myself have uninstalled version 4.4, and re-installed 4.3.

When installing a new version of G-Force it is important to uninstall the previous version, and check for any stray folders.

The only thing that works for me is Shift>Alt>Esc
this will minimise the programme

I'm running Windows 8 32 bit

I was just going through this. I moved to beta so I do not know of if this works in the release candidate. Ctrl-Alt-Enter and then when you hit Esc it drops from full screen.

Hi Travlin,
I just tried that and it doesn't work (on my machine anyway)

ctrl-shift-Esc still does though!

although I must add it brings up task manager for some reason!

OS Windows 8 pro, by the way

Hi Travlin
If I understand you right,
I use an external usb soundcard (Creative Audigy 2NX Soundblaster)*
for the inputs/outputs
With it, I can connect either with line in or optical inputs and GForce will visualize.
Have you tried looking in Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>manage audio devices, and see if your device shows?

*took a bit of searching for correct drivers, but Windows 7 drivers did the trick
cheers!

*If* this is still good common practice, shouldn't it be more emphasized here - stated somewhere?

Yes and Yes. Give me a couple of days to type up some detailed info for Windows users which I will then make into a sticky. Very much appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Great! Glad it helped.

I'm a Mac user and the new Beta version of G-Force and Aeon are architecturally very different (so your fine ColorMaps, for instance, must now be dropped into a different location).

I found this in the FAQ, if it saves you looking: "On Windows XP, go to Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs | G-Force. On Windows Vista, 7 and 8, go to Control Panel | Programs and Features | Remove Program. On Mac OS, use the Finder to search for and delete folders named "G-Force" (the default location of G-Force on Mac OS, is home/Library/Application Support/SoundSpectrum/). Please note that Mac OS X 10.7 and 10.8 now hide the appropriate "Library" folder. To access it, go to Finder, click on "Go" in the menu at the top of your screen, and press and hold the "Option" key. Click "Library" to access this folder."

Hello strumsky

Well, you have given most of the info required, it's basically just where to find other folders G-Force creates on different versions of Windows. I know nothing about MAC's, but as I will have to submit my post to SoundSpectrum for their approval before posting on their behalf I'll ask them for the MAC details. You have done a great job, and I would like to say a big thanks.

Hello strumsky

Just to say this subject is 'work in progress'. Covering all OS's is more difficult than I first thought.

Hello BTT

Time's sure have changed, haven't they?... and that's part of the problem: all the changes, and the legacy, with the oldies still in use...

Best of luck. It's a worthwhile cause. If I can help on things Mac, just holler, but the quote I sent you seems apropos for most Mac OS.
