Video for PC / Key Commands

Post by Andre »

Hi,

Just got G-Force - excellent stuff! Can't wait to get in there and play with the scripting etc. Lots of creative possibilites there.

I did a quick search re: recording video. OK, I've got a MAC, so I can use Darkroom - no problem. I guess you'd need a registered version of Quicktime to do this...?

But since I'm working mainly with PCs... is there any open source stuff that can directly record the output of G-Force to video? Or any other work arounds?

Also: is there a text version of all available key commands / shortcuts for both PC and MAC?

Thanks,

Andre

To be honest Andre, there isn't any real soloution on PC, Darkroom is unique and it has been the holly grail for pc users for aslong as it has existed on the MAC. Andy has already stated in other threads that current development takes priority and to expect a version of darkroom for PC any time soon is expecting a lot. There are some programs on PC that grab video but most have been uninspiring and difficult to use. I know this from personal experience asi had a pc and tried to record video.

As for key commands, if you look in the directory

/users/"your user name here"/library/Application Support/Soundspectrum/G-force/Scripts/

you will see a file called Help.txt, this is the script that generates the key commands on screen when you press h on the G-force window, near the bottom of that file is all the key commands, it does have formatting codes in it but if you copy the text to an editor its not to hard to delete all the /r/ commands

under Windows i believe, if my memory serves me correctly it is located in

Program files/soundspectrum/G-force/Scripts
I'll come to bed once i've seen everything in G-Force.

[... 42,000 Forums and three months later....]

OK, thanks for the reply...

I've found a way of making an AV show using hundreds of screen caps and then animating them with millisecond crossfades, saving the whole deal as a stand alone *.exe for win / creating a *.mov for mac.

I'm using a program called Pictures to Exe [ http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/ ] which could well be the best shareware electronic slide show app out there. Very well put together with a good range of semi-pro features and you can sync with music (including 16bit / 44.1 kHz files).

In PTE you can save as exe or export your project in a number of video formats. Goes without saying that the .exe (which has uncompressed images) looks so much better than the vid @ full screen rez. (Maybe there is a WINE thingy that can play this on Mac, I have no idea...)

If anyone can suggest a reliable http based file sharing service (free) then I'm happy to post a short hi-rez demo.

Ciao for now,

Andre
