The email was intended for those that may not have been to our web site recently and consequently would not have known about the new release, but that being said we also incremented from 3.0.0 to 3.0.1 so hopefully at least that was new to you : - )
i just downloaded and installed the 3.0.1 update for g-force platinum and screensaver 101.
although i didn't see it listed in the version history, i noticed that a minor problem that i was having with version 3.0 has disappeared. after i upgraded to version 3.0, the output seemed to freeze for about a second or two every 18 seconds. now that problem seems to have disappeared. thanks so much. it was a minor glitch, but it was kind of annoying.
-edit-
nevermind. i spoke too soon.
i just don't understand why the visual output keeps freezing momentarily like that. it never used to do that before i upgraded to version 3.0
after reading through the bug reports forum, i found a topic that discussed a similar problem. although andy had suggested the problem might be antivirus, i found that this was not the trouble on my pc. but by watching the cpu usage in the process list in task manager, i discovered that microsoft's anti-spyware product was grabbing 60-80% of the cpu every 18 seconds or so. i shut that down, and the problem went away.
If I do have a minor annoyance with GF it's that I go to great pains to keep it up to date but I never know what I'm updating because there is no version history. It would be nice if there was a sticky in this forum with the complete version history.
Another annoyance is that GF overwrites the preferences file so each time I install a new release I have to go and manually change the file again. I could back up the old one and put it back after the upgrade but there is no indication as to whether the file format has changed so this would be a bit dangerous.
Also, if the product is registered why do you need to put your egistration key in so many times? You have to put it in to download it then again to install it.
So in summary what I think would be good is that with each new release there is a listing of what's changed, you can download the new version without having to reregister it and it does not trash your settings. This is the norm for most of the software I use.
