Shortcut to lock current waveshape, colormap, flowfield

Post by quixotictonic »

Hello,

Is there a way to toggle on and off an option to cycle/lock waveshape, colormap and flowfield changes?

Sometimes I see a combo I just want to watch a while and would like to easily lock the settings.

Thanks,

Chris

I use the toolbar. Open the toolbar, and click on the green dot, according to whether it's a flowfield, wavesave, or colormap. The green dot will turn red.

It will not change if the dot is red. (unless you click an arrow)

Toolbar...

Yeah I do that too but it requires me to exit full screen and make three button clicks and then reenter full screen then again to turn the shuffle back on when I'm done. Yuck.

Developer can you please add this function?? You could have four options toggle on and off for each of the three options and a master toggle on/off that would apply to all with just one keystroke.

That sound like a good idea. I also thought of using the sliders in the toolbar to slow the changes, but it may not be long enough for you. Also, you can go back to the transitions using your keyboard, I think the keys are Q, A, Z

W,S ,X is to advance the flowfield, waveshape, and colormap.

I am not sure until I try it again.

I hope the developers can help you better than I can. 8)

What is the slideshow option?

Wait I think I just found the answer to my question. Shortcut keys E D & C toggle a "slideshow" that I never thought much about. As it turns out this is synonymous with "shuffle" of each of the three (waveshape, colormap and flowfield) options I needed control over. I would prefer one key for all three but I can live with three as long as I don't need to exit full screen.

Best to all.

E,D and C lock (start or stop) automatic changes (randomly). W, S & X can then be pressed to change each of the three elements — keep the color map(W), for example, but change the wave shape (X) and the Flow Field (S). This is a full screen interactive approach, which if you really know the song that's playing well, you can play like an instrument, triggering changes on the beat, etc.

Then you can start scripting and compose light shows for your favorite songs. IF and WHEN they ever update Darkroom, you would then be able to save these videos and fill a DVD or two with them to show your grandchildren why you never became a millionaire — you spent all your time having fun!
