G-Force Standalone - lags behind music - please assist

Post by straykat »

Hello!
I am having an issue with the standalone product graphics lagging behind the music by 100 to 300 ms. An example would be a base beat being heard and the visual effect lagging behind it by a noticeable amount. This visual lag appears at any of the available resolutions, fullscreen mode or tiny window.

The audio is channeled through the PC via an Audigy 2 NX SPDIF from a CD player, mixed with MP3, and passed through to a fullsized amp via SPDIF. All source settings in G-Force Platinum (SPDIF in, "what you hear", etc) exhibit the same visual lag. I have an ATI HD2600pro graphics card, latest drivers, and a typical P4 3.0 CPU utilization between 30 and 50% running fullscreen. Music is played by an application called "CDJ" which coordinates the mixing of playlists between my CD jukebox and MP3s.

I have read through the multiple posts here on the forums regarding the lagging standalone product, including preferences to tweak, settings to reset, and modes to set. I have also installed the latest beta (1 week ago) with no appreciable difference. A large amount of time has gone into making this work.

I absolutely love this product, I truly do. It would be a night a day difference if I can have the visual effects keep in time with the music.
Thank you!

I could find no mention of CDJ except here

http://web2.airmail.net/will/cdjplaylistreadme.html

is this what you are talking about?

I would try and make sure that your audio buffer is not too big, when the audio buffer is too big the GF vis will look as though its running a bit behind the music. try a slight decrease in the buffer size and see what happens.

if that doesnt work ( and I am not too clear on how you have your rig setup) I would guess that because you have music running in from an external source into the pc and then out via the CDJ to another amp that this could be where the lag originates.

my amplifier has a time lag between the normal stereo output and the headphone jack which means anything playing through my headphones is a bit behind my stereo ( i do audio resotration so sometimes I have both heaphones and stereo going at the same time )

on a side note the latest beta has been slowing down as though its taking too much cpu then it speeds up again so dont put to much trust in the new beta there will be another soon.

The Nirvis CDJ application:

Thank you, very much for that reply! I will be trying to figure out where that buffer is when I get home. I will post how this goes.

Thank you, again!
