Problems with licence code for G-Force and screensaver

Post by Mac Migs »

Hi guys... I've had the G-Force demo program for a while now using it in iTunes on my Mac. I finally decided to upgrade the the Gold version last night and also bought the screen saver program as well. I got my automated email with my licence code and proceeded to enter it in the G-Force program and the G-Force screen saver. I keep getting this error message:

Error creating license code data file - Access denied

I copy and pasted the licence code directly from my email so I know I didn't mis-type it. Here's my computer configuration:

Mac Mini (Intel) 2.0Ghz, 2GB RAM, 200GB hardrive. I'm still running OS 10.4.10 (Tiger), I haven't upgraded to Leopard yet.

I tried emailing customer support but all I got so far was an automated email reply with a link to another download site for the program. The programs download fine and install with no problems or errors. The error only comes after I try to enter the license code.

Here's a screen shot, notice the error in the upper left-hand corner:

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Thanks,

Mike

did you let GF access the internet to confirm your license? try that and see what happens.

Juxtiphi, Thanks for the reply.... I have nothing on my computer that would prevent GF from accessing the internet

Fixed the problem...

It turns out that I had an old G-Force Platinum version on my computer which included a serial #. So it was conflicting with the Gold version that I purchased. I had to delete all the old G-Force files:

applications > g-force
library > application support > soundspectrum
library > itunes > itunes plug-ins > g-force for itunes.bundle
library > receipts > g-force.pkg

Then I did a fresh install of G-Force Gold. All is fine now, even the screen saver

:D

I have the same Problem as the User above, but in my Case deleting the Files doesn´t change anything. Also have nothing that can prevent GF to connect to the Internet.

Any Ideas?

uninstall GF delete any and all traces of GF from your computer where ever it resides.

restart and then reinstall.

this may help

there are a few places that GF resides

there are two soundspectrum folders one in program files and one in documents and settings/application data the second folder holds all the prefs files for GF make sure you delete this folder.

then do a registry clean and restart if you still cannot install GF contact support and tell them your licence is not functioning.

Solution

Post by a1Ni4a2 »

There's two hidden files that need to be erased in:

MackintoshHD/private/var/db/receipts

Which are also hidden folders and need to be unhid beforehand.

You can also display the Go menu in Finder, click Go To Folder option, and type ("slash") /private, and it'll show you the folder.

The two files are like this:

com.SoundSpectrum.G-Force.gforce.package.pkg.plist
com.SoundSpectrum.G-Force.gforce.package.pkg.bon

After erasing them, installation of a previous version of G-Force (after installing and uninstalling Trial version) should run, and effectively runs, pretty smoothly.

Cheers. :D

As always, props to the all the folks trying to give a helping hand, but for license code issues or oddities, please contact SoundSpectrum support. You mentioned that you emailed us, but our support system is via a html ticket system:

http://www.soundspectrum.com/support/contact.html

That said, for access denied errors, your OS X permissions may need repair. Try running Disk Utility and repair the permissions on your HD.

Thanks for being patient,
Andy
