Sprite Behaviors

Post by Bob Gill »

I have recently upgraded to G-Force platinum and I have a question concerning sprites. I began using G-Force several years ago and in older versions, sprites seemed to be treated as foreground objects. When they appeared, the moved and mixed in withe the waveshapes and flowfields. A later version added the ability to put images into the background by adding "- background" to the end of the filename. Background images stayed behind everything else and remained stationary. In my current version, it seems to me that all sprites behave as background images only. They don't move nor do they mix in with the G-Force manipulations. Are moving sprites still possible?

Hi Bob I dont think you should not have this problem

Try uninstalling GF and then remove all folders and files including the prefs files delete all traces from your computer restart and then reinstall the new GF.

I think that may solve your problem

I believe there's a pic file and accompanying document called "Moon" in the Sprites folder. The pic file indeed moves according to the parameters set forth in the text file with the same name. Neither of these are in the Background Sprites subfolder; so I'm assuming that Moon takes on the behavior of a foreground sprite.
IIRC, there were in earlier versions (2.x) two text sprites with foreground behaviors. Each one had two components: a file in one of the Sprites subfolders and the other in what used to be a folder for separate Particles. These behaved in a similar way as Moon does now. Maybe the fact that in my GF 3.7.1 there's no Background Sprites subfolder in Sprites makes things easier to explain along these lines...?
