Full screen?
Hi folks, been using and loving "battery" but recommended G-force by my brother. Downloaded, paid the cash for the upgrade (sorry can't find the differences yet) but slightly underwhelmed. When is full-screen actually "full-screen"? The best I can achieve is sort of "nearly but not quite full-screen" ( I still have the windows bars along the top and bottom of the screen ) which does kind of defeat the object of having these beautiful patterns doing their thing. Am I missing something?

Re: Full screen?
You can adjust your full screen resolution settings by pressing "M" when G-Force is running (press "H" for a full list of keystroke commands). This will cycle through the various options available to your computer.
If, after adjusting your resolution, you are still getting a "letterboxing" effect (e.g. your screen look like it's in wide-screen mode), then this is a result of the default maximum height / width settings for G-Force. These settings can be changed (see instructions below) but you should be aware that relaxing these constraints may cause G-Force to slow down at times (especially when calculating flowfield changes) due to the fact that larger resolutions require significantly more mathematical computations by your computer.
--------------------------------------------------------
Letterbox Settings (MaxX, MaxY)
--------------------------------------------------------
You can modify the (MaxX, MaxY) settings by changing your G-Force Preferences File. To do this, please open the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME\G-Force (on a PC) and Library\Preferences\G-Force\ (on a Mac) and then and open the appropriate preferences file (there should be one for each media player that you use with G-Force). Once you have the Preference file open, you can modify the MaxX and MaxY values to be equal to your full screen resolution. Note, the upper limits for these values are approx 4.2 million pixels (MaxX multiplied by MaxY).
Preference File (PC): C:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME\G-Force
Preference File (Mac): Library\Preferences\G-Force\
Also, if you would like to experiment with additional controls, please check out the beta of G-Force 3.0 -- it sounds like it may have more of what you are looking for in the way of an upgrade experience!

Full Screen escape
First let me just say that G-Force is, and has always been, extremely impressive. A truly excellent product.
I have a quick question about full screen mode. Is there anyway to configure it to be "escapable" with the mouse, rather than only with the escape key? I have a unique setup in my house where my computer is on the 2nd floor, yet I have stereo, s-video, and a mouse down to my entertainment center in my living room on the 1st floor (wired through the walls). That's primariily where I listen to music, with G-force on the TV. In past G-force versions you could escape full screen using the mouse, but now you can't. Since I only have a mouse downstairs, you can see why that could cause a problem. Is there anything I can do to change this?
Thank you in advance for your help.

How can you find Advanced Preferences?
Hi. I've got the G-Force Platinum. I'm trying to eliminate the letterboxing effect when it runs on iTunes (as well as Standalone). I found a post that said you can adjust this in Advanced Preferences, but i can't find how to access this function. According to this post, i can edit a file here: Preference File (PC): C:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME\G-Force I don't find any file like that on my computer. Please help!
thanks.
thanks.
Hi, I found this post as well and couldn’t find the file! I did a search using Windows Explorer on G-Force (don’t forget the capitals), still looking. I’m not too good at computers but this letterboxing spoils G-Force in Itunes. Typing M when G-Force is running doesn’t change things. Surely someone has solved this problem by now?????? Help please!!!!
Hi, as for letterboxing, I’m still puzzled. I have trawled the SoundSpectrum/G-Force site and still don’t have an answer. I did a clean uninstall/reinstall of G-Force Platinum. Still got the letterboxing and still the toolbar does a runner when I try to max the vertical size. But this time it made the Itunes visualizer into a blank screen. So I did a clean uninstall/reinstall of Itunes only to have the same ‘Blank Screen’ Itunes visualizer. By going into Itunes then veiw/visualizer/properties and un-ticking the DirectX box I now have the Itunes visualizer back but still the letterboxing when I use G-Force. I don’t know but G-Force/Itunes/DirectX ?????? Don’t like each other!!! OK G-Force is ok for WMP but Itunes? Well. Maybe I wasted my money???
Dell XPS710 2.4GHz Quad 4 GB RAM Gainward Bliss 1GB 8600GT PTX, Creative SB X-Fi, Dell 3007WFP-HC and second DVI-D to Samsung LE52M8 HDMI input. OS now Vista Premium
Hi, Concerning 'Letterboxing' in Itunes. I’m still puzzled! (lol). I was using 1920 by 1080 resolution on the Samsung LE52M87BDX LCD TV and 2560 by 1600 on the Dell 3007WFP-HC Monitor. G-Force has no problems with these reses in WMP but Itunes?? Quick fix is to drop the resolution to 1280 by 720 and this gets rid of the letterboxing in Itunes. Anyway I’m happy for a while now. Smithers!! Bring me a cup of teeee!!! whilst I watch these pretty patterns!!!

the letter box is default setting for GF
it can be changed in the prefs file contained in the soundspectrum folder located in docs and setings /application data soundspectrum folder.
open the prefs file for the player you use and ajust the max x and max y until you get it the way you want it.
Hi, Thanks for that Juxtiphi. I managed to find the file in C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\SoundSpectrum\G-Force Preferences (Itunes) the values were MaxX=10000 MaxY=0. So changing the MaxY to 10000 gives a great result. Thank you for the info and I now take back what I said!! G-Force is Great no in both WMP and Itunes. Smithers bring me a cup of teeeeeeeea!!!! Whilst I watch these pretty patterns!!!!

I tried changing MaxY to 10000 and had no luck, still letterboxing.
I've played with the two values a lot, even giving them both 100000 but can't break the black borders
I'm on a mac, Leopard, 1920x1080 on 52" Philips LCD via DVI2HDMI.
I currently am using the demo but hope to get this working and become a Platinum user for the screensaver and other settings.
Any suggestions?

start GF, once its running press the M key and watch the resolution choices in the right corner keep going until you get to 1920X1080 then open the tool bar click visualization preferences and make sure that the frame height and width are both set to "NO LIMIT" and also make sure that the toolbar setting for full screen is also set at 1920x1080.seand11 wrote:I tried changing MaxY to 10000 and had no luck, still letterboxing.
