I've had great results using SoundSpectrum Darkroom, using both scripts I've created and the boot.txt file. But occasionally I've had it produce blank output.
Here's a typical sequence of events on my Macintosh dual 1G (OSX1.3.9) .
I select all the vaiables and click on Export. The preview window opens and I can watch the varioous fames being created. When the process is completed I view the resulting movie. If I find that I don't like it or want to change a paramater, I start the process over, leaving the links to music, script, engine, etc the same, but creating a new location with a new output name for the file.
Again I hit Export and watch the preview images creep past. When the proces is completed and I open the resulting movie, it is white—no images at all. The file size is only 20k BUT the song still plays, which makes no sense since the file size should then at least be 40+ MB in size.
I find that the only way to prevent this from hapening (and it will happen a second time if I immediately try to create another version) is to quit Darkroom and reopen it.

That is because the video links to the audio file instead of merging it with the video.willrob wrote:The file size is only 20k BUT the song still plays, which makes no sense since the file size should then at least be 40+ MB in size.
But I have this problem too. I would let it do its thing, then watch the video and there would only be music. I got it to work a few times but never nailed the problem. I was useing PearPC btw.
