Way to record G-Force with a PC

Post by Wolf »

One of my friends was over the other day and I showed G-Force to him. He thought the thing on the Xbox was cool, but when he saw this he was amazed. Then he suggested we stick the songs and visualizations on a DVD and use it instead of an Xbox. The only problem is we needed a way to record it. I knew about darkroom, but it was Mac only. After a couple days went by, I remembered there was a way to emulate OSX on a PC; a program called PearPC. I gave it a shot and actually got Darkroom working, however, it recorded at a rate of 1hr/5min of music at 720x480 on an AthlonXP 2400+ with 512mb ram. This was severally slow and left little room for error. So I tried recording it to a DVDR through the S-vid out on my video card, set at 1024x768. The quality was surprisingly great, actually better than what I got using Darkroom. I then ripped the DVD and resized it, applying the audio track in and burned it again. It is a long process, but the result is worth it. Now I can go over to a friend’s house, stick the DVD in, crank the surround, and have a party.

It would be best to have a DVD recorder with a hard drive and firewire.
You can find info on PearPC at http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/

That sounds like an awsome idea, only thing is I dont yet have a DVD burner on my comp yet, I cant wait till darkroom will work for PC, I want to start making some visualizations, and easy too.

Once darkroom comes out I am going to buy a DVD-burner.

Good Idea though :D

EDIT: I just tried to install whatever that was on my Windows XP and it doesnt work, I actually have no friggin clue what to download or what to do.

I have XP, so could you direct me on were to downloasd the one that I need, and what files to click on once I get it, thanks

Download PearPC Here
Download PearPC Control Panel Here
Download OpenVPN (only need Tap32 driver for networking) Here

Also, you are going to have to get a copy of OSX, either a preinstalled disk image or the install disk. It takes forever to install OSX, so your best bet is to get a preinstalled image.

I use the PPC Control Panel just to make a config for PPC to use. It and the OpenVPN are not required, but they just make life so much easier. If you have a general idea about computers, installing everything and getting it to run should be straitforward. PearlPC.net has some great guides and links to guides if you need help.

Oh, well nevermind then, that seems like too much work, I'll just wait for Darkroom to come out for PC. It will probably be soon anyway. Thanks for the info though :D

Actually, after seeing and playing arround with OSX, it has become more and more appealing. I am looking forward to getting a Mac notebook or desktop with FinalCut.
