Two pointers:

1. I've found it less hazardous to edit the Prefs via the Prefs file and not the Boot doc. The latter is best for editing for certain media players, i.e. not the standalone.

...which leads me to ask...

2. What brand do you have (Mac or PC)?

If you have a Mac, you'll hafta do a generic G-Force search. There should be a Preferences folder in the Parent column. That's where you'll find the prefs file. Maybe someone here can offer specifics for PC users?
PS: Unfortunately I don't have a laptop either; so hopefully someone who has one here can give you a bit of luck as well.

Is there in the PC environs any similar way to do the kind of generic GF search that I mentioned before? Worse comes to worse, you might have to narrow down your search terms to "Prefs"...if you haven't done that already, that is?

My PC knowledge is limited to a crappy version of Virtual PC 6...and working with my brother-in-law with a lousy network of the beasts.

I don't edit the pref stuff much (for chnaging screen res I just use 'M') but on a vanilla install of GF I cannot find the prefs file at all. Yet it is saving settings of the res via 'M'. *shrug*

right the problem under windows is that G-force saves specific prefs for each app its installed for.

So Where you need to be looking, under XP is

C:\Documents and Settings\Orbstah\G-Force\

Obviously Orbstah is my user name you need to change that to your user name.

In here you will find specific pref files for well for every player you installed for so the text file you are looking for in here is

Preferences (winamp).txt

The screen res is situated near the bottom.

Hope this helps any problems then just get back to me
I'll come to bed once i've seen everything in G-Force.
