Has anybody noticed stability problems under windows XP sp2 with G-Force 2.8?
It was stopping after something like 30 minutes in my case.
I had to revert to 2.7.3...(but I kept the shapes, flowfileds and colormaps from 2.8 )
It works fine again now
If only the G5 was fanless and I could install my matrox parhelia inside....
I too am having stability issues using G-Force 2.8 with JRiver Media Center's current builds. I am using MC version 11.0.220 currently, and the player crashes reliably after 2-3 songs play when the G-Force visualization is running. I have also had problems with at least the past few builds of MC (though it may have been ever since I installed G-Force 2.8). The application crash details:
The Media Core error signature:
AppName: media center.exe AppVer: 11.0.220.0 ModName: g-force_api.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 000699e9
(I can post the full dump of an error if someone needs it).
My system details are:
Media Center Registered 11.0.220 -- C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 11\
G-Force Gold 2.8
Microsoft Windows XP 5.1 Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
AMD Athlon 1624 MHz MMX / Memory: Total - 1048 MB, Free - 586 MB
After testing, it appears that reverting to 2.7.3 does correct the problem. Since reverting, I have not had the crash recur (and it typically would have happened by now I suspect).
I have a version of 2.8.0 dated February 18, 2005 ... I don't use G-Force with iTunes, but I do have XP SP2. Do these changes affect other plugins as well or just the iTunes plugin?
Re-downloading and re-installing G-Force 2.8 seems to have solved the problems I was having with JRiver Media Center as well. The changes mentioned in the thread above must apply to more than just iTunes for Windows.
I am running GF 2.8 under Windows XP SP2 using MusicMatch10 now, though I was running it under MM9 until a couple weeks ago. It is normally quite stable when running, locking up itself and MM only occasionally. My problem is that 2.8 locks up, taking MM with it, about 90%+ of the time if I don't shut GF down, leaving MM paused, before going to 'Stand by' or 'Hibernate' or if the machine does it on its own. If the Screensaver comes up, there's at least a 50% chance that GF will cause MM to lock up. I had absolutely no problem with MM9 and GF version prior to 2.8. The MM version I am running is 10.002058b, which is much more stable than the previous version, which was 10.002047b, a total piece of crap, that would hardly run by itself, without G-Force. Andy has said that the problem is probably with MusicMatch 9 & 10, but I have run enough different trials that I feel confident that it is a GF2.8 bug. Take care.
I just noticed that dvd player softwares were not able to use the spdif output when G-Force is running and using spdif as input
tried power dvd 6 and windvd 6
works fine when G-Force doesn't run, uses other inputs, or dvd player setup to use analog outputs
blue screen if I turn G-Force on and dvd player using spdif output
this doesn't affect stability with version 2.7.3 but might be the source of problems with gf2.8
