Newbie problem

Post by lulusdad »

Greetings to all. I love G-Force! It is a wonderful program. A million "thanks" to you, Andy. I definitely plan on buying the Gold upgrade, but first I need to figure something out. I know there must be a simple solution to my problem, but I'm pretty new to this. I have G-Force on all three of my Macs (a G4 w/1.25 upgrade, G4 Digital Audio, and a Snow iMac) all running Panther 10.3.5 and GF 2.7. When running SSD 1.3, I can't select the GF engine cause it's faded out. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to upgrade my SSD or GF first? Thanks, I appreciate anyone's imput.

Still stumped

Okay, I purchased the Gold update but I still can't choose the greyed out GF engine in SSD. Any suggestions, anyone? Thanks.

Welcome aboard.

Just make sure you have SSD 1.3.5 and not just 1.3. Assuming you have/will have that, everything should once again run smoothly. BTW, don't get discouraged if SSD runs into a problem or two, since this is by far the "baby" of the SoundSpectrum product family. There are always bound to be minor bugs and such in each version that the one after it will hopefully correct.

Amongst other things to his credit, Andy does a yeoman's job making sure that everything is updated concurrently to assure that all three products can run together seamlessly.

Problem solved

Thanks for your reply. I'm most appreciative. I figured it out and it works like a charm! I can't wait to try out all kinds of configs and schemes. Many many thanks to you and Andy both. Keep up the great work.

Mac OS X and G-Force

Post by Res »

Installed G-Force on my G4 with Mac OS 3.5.1,
not running any other applications.

While using iTunes, G-Force has locked up
and successfully freezes iTunes and Finder.

Congratulations. This is the first Mac OS
program I have used that successfully
freezes my finder in OS X. I have been
unable to use the Visualization option
without freezing iTunes in the process.

Any suggestions? No other plug-ins
being used and using the most
current version of iTunes.

I've had a lot of frustration with the iTunes build myself, and I tend to believe that iTunes is the culprit. Hence I use the standalone version with *much* less headaches.
In reality, I haven't used iTunes for much recently except to download songs that I ulimately use in other music file players anyway. It tends to crap out a lot whenever I try to access the Music Store to begin with.

PS: Don't forget that the G-Force engine as it is right now is rather CPU intensive, and it can take as long as 5 1/2 seconds to load a busy config. Kinda makes sense then IMO that the iTunes engine has a big-@$$ issue there. When GF gets OpenGL/Altivec(Velocity Engine)/vectorC et al. capable, we should notice a great difference in performance and load-time. This should make future GF 4 iTunes builds easier to deal with.

Which version of MacOS was that again? 3.5.1 is many years old!
