G-Force visualizer as my desktop background!

Post by zzt4 »

Hey everybody, just wanted to show everyone my cool setup. I finally was able to get G-Force to run as my desktop background -AND- be visualizing whatever is playing in iTunes. Enjoy my screenshots!

By the way, it runs at about 40+ fps no matter what I'm doing, plus it has no impact on how fast everything else is running, either.

So, the obvious question is "How?" Are you using a screensaver-to-desktop application? Or is this something you wrote yourself? Also what Mac are you using that gives the 40fps speed without interfering with other tasks? A G5?

Yah, i'm using BackgroundSaver, (an app to show a screensaver on your desktop). And my system is a dual-G5, but I don't see any reason why the dual-core iMacs wouldn't have any problems with it.

Sweet! What kind of machine are you running that on?

There's one called "Backlight" that does the same thing. Chews 80% of my CPU on a dual 1.25 G4 though...

Don't think I'll be doing any video processing :)

This app hasn't been updated in a while so it's probably PPC only.

Is this where the sig goes?

Both Backlight and BackgroundSaver are Mac-only. Anything out there for a PC? thanks.
