How do I make iTunes the audio source for V-Bar and/or Standalone?

when running Gf standalone right click the GF window and a menu will appear. In that menu there is an option for "input audio source" it should list any sound devices on your comp then pick the appropriate one.

Thanks, but iTunes isn't a "sound device" and doesn't show up. It's line in or built in mic as my choices.

I know what itunes is, the problem is that your soundcard doesnt have many options, my soundcard has 15 choices for audio input plus the 3 sound generaters that come with GF.

this means that the stand alone will not sample music from your soundcard as there is no option for it to listen to.

until you upgrade your sound card standalone wont be much use.

you'll just have to stick with the plugin version

I have a mac. I don't know if upgrading the soundcard is even an option. It seems to me that having V-Bar and standalone react to sound generated by internal apps would be basic functionality, no?

Does the (i)Mac build's list for Input Audio Source include either the built-in mike or "line-in"?
"God is syntax."

Yes, both.
the only way you can utilise those options is to use an external player jacked into the line in option of your soundcard.
