Just purchased the latest gold version of G force running XP Pro with service pack 2 and the latest windows media player 10 but cant seem to make head nor tail about getting g force to run in full screen so how do I do it,,,,The two black bands at the top and bottom of the screen annoy me.

Welcome aboard. Even though I run GF on an iMac, I should be able to answer this for you.

Assuming you can find the Prefs file for G-Force WMP, look for the parameters FS-X and FS-Y, then change the default values to whatever your screen res is set to when you run WMP. If that fails, see if you can do the same via the Boot file within the GF for WMP package, wherever that might be located in your disk.
I apologize for sounding a bit murky in describing the process; but evidently, Windoze and OS X obviously have different ways of managing/secreting files and stuff.

ok ...very sorry about this I found the prefs file and changed them but still I have these black bands top and bottom of screen. I was led to think that they would go away when i upgraded to the full version. Can someone tell me how to get rid of them please

Maybe just a thought here and not of much consolation...
but could it be that Windows media player doesn't allow you to see G_Force un-letterboxed? i.e. with those black areas?

Have you tried the Boot file located in the G-Force Folder itself? There should be a set of parameters there, too.

Try Looking for these:

SetPref(PREF_FULLSCREEN_X, 640);
SetPref(PREF_FULLSCREEN_Y, 480);
SetPref(PREF_MAX_SIZE_X, 10000)", <Not sure if this has anything to do with it; but I thought it might be a good idea. The other two are the important ones.

Again, change the default numbers to your currently set screen res and see what happens.

Ok found the boot file and changed the settings in there too but no luck. Is any one else using media player 10 on XP Pro and having theses problems.

Hello, here are a couple of quick comments about full screen support.
- Please know that Windows Media Player requires you to use the media player's "full screen" support rather than the G-Force keyboard command. Also, WMP's "full screen" mosde still has WMP frame/controls (most other media players support a full screen mode without such frames/controls).
- Using your keyboard commands, you can select the full screen resolution by pressing the "M" key -- press multiple times and you will toggle between supported resolutions.
- If you are encountering letterboxing problems, you can alter the boot.txt file and increase the PREF_MAX_SIZE_X and PREF_MAX_SIZE_Y settings (please see the G-Force documentation for details, and please also note that the G-Force display will max out at about 4.1 million pixels).
- If you are tying to run G-Force at high resolutions and want to speed up the frame rate, you can turn on pixel doubling (they keyboard command is "Shift D").
- There are a variety of other advanced controls that may be of help (depending on what you are trying to accomplish) and I'd highly recommend checking out the advanced section of the G-Force documentation: http://www.soundspectrum.com/g-force/Documentation/

Still I cant get this to work .....can it be viewed in full screen at all. Please somone help me.

ok does GF work fullscreen without letterbox in other media players?

What about the standalone version?

In standalone version what resulations work in fullscreen not letterboxed.

What resolution are you running it in wmp?

Do all resolutions that are not meet to be letterboxed (e.g. 640x400 and 640x480 one is letterboxed the other is not) appear letterboxed?

I don't use wmp but I presume the 'M' still changes the resolution.

Does it appear to save the res setting 320x240 will look different to 1280x1024?

Try every res and post picture here of every one so we can see what you are talking about.

I only run the one media player and its wmp 10 I have tried every resolution by pressing "m" and it all show up in the letterbox format.

Sorry guys...think I have it sorted...I run my pc at a resolution of 1280x1024 and when I turned it down it ran ok in full screen. So I guess g-force cant run under that res. would I be correct in saying so ?

Ahh... that's the problem... unfortunately, Windows Media Player does not allow support for alternate screen resolutions other than your system settings (hence the "M" keystroke is rendered ineffective in WMP). You can use your control panel to change screen resolution and this should help.

Also, if you want to address only the letterbox issue, you can try altering the PREF_MAX_SIZE_X and PREF_MAX_SIZE_Y preferences in your boot.txt file (should be located at: /program files/windows media player/visualizations/g-force/). As long as X * Y is less than 4.1 million pixels, you can increase these preferences.

it should be noted that 2048x1536, the maximum resolution supported by the highest-end monitors, is only 3.1 million pixels...so you're not going to have to worry about the pixel limit unless you've got some seriously high-end hardware

It would take a spanned desktop running at least 3840x1280 (2 monitors at 1920x1280) or 4800x1200 (3 monitors at 1600x1200) to hit this limit. Barring some seriously high-end equipment from Matrox, you probably won't hit this limit (at a frame-rate above the single digits) any time soon.
