WinAmp 5.24 - G-Force only works once per install (Fixed?)

Post by c0nfuted »

Okay, so like, I shell-out $20 (US) and register WinAmp. Re-install G-Force (like your documentation says, hence, overwriting all my .txt files, which I archived prior to... I digress).

Start WinAmp. Start the Visualizer. G-Force comes-up. Great!

Start another Visualizer. Try to go back to (my favorite) G-Force. Hmmm, not in the list! Re-Re-Install G-Force. Works once per install!

Saw the dash in the "vis_G-Force.dll" and noticed that in WinAmp, the "vis" stuff had dashes where the filename has underscores. Renamed the DLL to "vis_GForce.dll" and everything works just fine, now!

Enjoy!

"vis_G-Force.dll" is actually the correct name of the dll, but what you wer experiencing was that winamp for some strange reason put GF on its ignore vis list (which is strored in a separite file). So when you changed the file name, it was no longer on the ignore list.

Can we chalk this up to other great accidental discoveries? Like: the adhesive on the back of PostIt Notes, XRAYs, Penicillin and quite possibly, the wheel?

 Perhaps this should be mentioned in the "How to install" guide. It's not noted in the instructions...
