I'm happy to say, thanks to a user who emailed in a couple mp3s (w/ embedded art), I was able to see what was going on. The fix will affect all Windows machines that don't have QuickTime installed (which is a majority of Windows machines). There was a bug in the image decompression stuff. Hoepfully, G-Force 3.5.5 should be out ina day or two.adamsp70 wrote:Anybody got any further with this?
I have just updated to MC 11.1 and G-Force 3.1.2 and am getting a black box instead of cover art.
My art is stroed as cover.jpg in the album directory.
My previous installation of MC11 and G-Force ? worked perfectly
Thanks....
Thanks,
Andy

Hrm... I've gotten a lot of success stories from other MC users, so this is puzzling--are you sure the tracks have normal embedded cover art?nmalcomson wrote:Loaded the new GF latest release, and running with MC11.1.187. Rebooted and held my breath to see cover art. The first track played displayed cover art OK, then no more cover art from the same album, or any album - nothing...

Try and look at the tracks that have cover art that work and the tracks that don't work and see if you can see a pattern.

Normal embedded cover art in APE. plays fine with MC displaying cover art and also with other players using the same underlying APE files.
QuickTime installed ( without iTunes ). Latest GForce, latest MC. WinXPProfessional all patches.
I see no logical reason why the fist song in an album should show cover art, then subsequent ones don't. Re-playing the first song again, shows no cover art. So the only time that GForce correctly displays cover art is when the playing starts.
I'm stuck...

Andy, I think (?!) that I have the common problem. The files are all APE, and it seems to work OK with MP3's. I am still testing, but so far 100% MP3, 0% APE. Note that all my APE files have cover art embedded and the cover art is also stored in the album directory as Folder.jpg. Both my APE and MP3 files display cover art correctly in MC11.

Can you email me a zip of a folder with a track (and folder.jpg) that doesn't work in GF but does in MC? That should let be reproduce it over here, hopefully, and then it should be easy to zero in on the issue.nmalcomson wrote:Andy, I think (?!) that I have the common problem. Follow up
Andy, I have managed to make this replicable...
It appears that there was nothing wrong with the APE's. What happens is if you import new APE's to an existing MC library, then the coverart doesn't show up in GF. Note that it does show up correctly in MC.
However, if you delete the MC library and re-import everything from scratch, then the coverart shows up correctly in GF. MP3s seem to work fine.
Thanks, nick
