Sound stutter

Post by Markdym »

Hi

I have a little problem. I use iTunes to play my music and have recently been using G-Force Platinum. When I start G-Force, within 1minute the music begins to stutter. When I exit G-Force, the stutter disappears.

Does anyone have any suggestions on anything I might try to eliminate this?

Thanks

C'mon folks - does no one have any suggestions I might try?

My computer is a Dell Optiplex GX270 running Windows XP Pro SP2. I have a Soundblaster Live! 24bit card, a Radeon 9600XT 256MB graphics card, a P4 2.8 CPU and 1.5GB RAM.

I get the stutter no matter which resolution I use. Today I have been trying 640x480 and the stutter only persists whilst G-Force Platinum is running.

Interestingly, I do not get any stutter when just the V-Bar is being used at its smallest setting. But, as soon as I maximise iTunes, then run G-Force in full screen mode, the stutter will occur. The stutter occurs if the G-Force Toolbar is open or closed.

I really would appreciate some help with this.

Edit:
I am presently running iTunes and G-Force Standalone and am not experiencing any stutter at all. Although I can maximise the Standalone window - it is not the same as full screen :(

Is there a command I can run which will run the Standalone in fullscreen?

Thanks in advance.

Edit2:
I have just upgraded my copy of G-Force Platinum from 3.0 to 3.1 and have been using iTunes for the last half-hour with the G-Force plug-in running in fullscreen mode and have not heard a single stutter.

Good things come to those who wait. *thumbs up*

I have truly sorted this problem out.

It had nothing to do with the the version of G-Force+iTunes I was using. I had been using a system monitoring utility suite, and it had been consuming so many system resources that it was affecting the running of my system. I recently uninstalled this suite and noticed a vast improvement in overall system performance. So I fired up iTunes and have been running G-Force with it on a high resolution with no performance impact whatsoever.

Who would have thought that utilities designed to protect my computer from data loss, virus/spyware infection and intruder attempts would have impacted the performance to such an extent that they would adversely affect the way other programs run.

FYI, you can shift the Standalone into full screen mode by double clicking withing its window.

Glad to see you solved your problem.
