the zip files

Post by Benjammin »

I wish I knew where to put files after I unzip the configs.

What is a DS_Store, is it needed? Since I use a Windows-based PC, I'm guessing I won't need any MacOSX files? And isn't there a feature in WinZip that will unzip files to the correct directories without the user having to select them individually and drag them around? I just want to run my G-Force and enjoy it, nothing beyond that. I don't have the time to learn how it works; I simply want it to work. Excuse my naivete.

Are you talking about the configs on the extras page?

I just checked a couple of them and they don't have the correct folder information in them. If they did you could check the check box for 'use folder names'. Unfortunately, some have a folder name like the config creator's name, the correct final folder, and then the config creator's name again.

You'd have to select individually each one for say 'colormaps' and hit the extract button, goto the colormaps folder and extract them. Then select each one that is 'flowfields', hit the extract button, goto the flowfields folder and extract to it. Same with waves...

I am planing to include all the extras on my web site for the GA testing thing that I am doing and I will be putting all colormaps in one zip, all waves in another etc. But I was waiting till they are updated for 3.1. There should be quite a few new ones added.

So you can wait or you can mess around with them they way they are. You do have a bunch already included with G-Force.

And the DS_Store I think has something to do with the Mac, I'd skip selecting them, myself.
