I also would love for Darkroom to come out on windows, my goal is to use G-force with my Pink Floyd music, and other really good stuff, export it, then burn it on a dvd. Pop 'er in my dvd player on the big screen with surround sound and bam.... completely trip out. I mean who wouldn't love to do that?

That would be awsome...Imagine projecting it onto the wall with an LCD projector...thats what I want to do.

these people could make so much money if they would make like an awesome scripted stuff with awesome sprites, sync it up to Dark Side of the Moon, then sell it to IMAX or something and have totaly trippy IMAX shows on the badass dome screens, people would easily pay 15 bucks a pop for a mind blowing visual trip.

I know, G-force is probably the most powerful visualizing program in the world. They could make some big bucks with an idea like that.

And it would sort of be like a laser show..except 100 times better...and to the dark side of the moon..thats going to be sweet. Even if I have to pay for it,(I already payed for G-force platinum) I will.

There's definitely some truth here. As a small company, it's very tough for us to head Windows development for SoundSpectrum Darkroom when we have all the following projects in the hopper:

- WhiteCap 5 (in alpha now, soon to be in beta)
- G-Force 3.1 (now in beta)
- G-Force Toolbar for Mac OS X (currently in development; will be released with GF 3.1)
- Project Nitrogen (currently in R&D)
- Project Gallium (scheduled after Nitrogen)
- Project Mercury (G-Force goes to OpenGL--concurrent w/ Nitrogen).

I'm fairly confident that most folks would rather have the above projects in the works rather than SSD for Windows. Another angle to see this is that only on Mac OS X are GUI-heavy apps not treacherous to develop and maintain. The key word, however, is maintain--it's very very costly to maintain a (good) Windows application that is GUI-heavy.

With Mac Minis as cheap as they are or the fact that you can buy a nice G4 iMac used for very very cheap on ebay, to anyone doing serious A/V work, I have to ask if getting a Mac is really that much out of the question.

Hi Andy!
Just a quick question... What percentage of your users are Mac users, and how many of them are Windows users? What percentage of SoundSpectrum's revenues come from Mac users and how much from Windows users? That should help you prioritize just how much of your effort should be expended on gettin out a Windows version of Darkroom. I don't expect an answer to those questions, though one would be appreciated. I doubt whether your percentage of Mac users is higher than it is anywhere else in the PC world, and several Internet surveys placing Mac usage at 25-30% of the overall PC market. We non-Mac users will only wait for so long, regardless of our love of G-Force! Take care.

To Toby

Darkroom and g-force have had a larger commercal value in mac then do they have in windows.(up to g-force 3). Beings that they have had a large profesional value.(as in bands, stores and so on). Now with it being network driven in windows this is changing. AND CHANGE TAKES TIME, also money devolpment and coding.
I have upgraded to the pro version for windows to help with this, Have you?

Many thanks to Andy and all at Soundsource..... Job well done

Always waiting for what is next around the corner......

Hi MEM,

No I haven't. I have no particular need for Pro... I don't display in public and probably never will, unless someone is looking over my shoulder in an airport. I just use it to help me relax from 60-80 hour work-weeks and make my listening experience more enjoyable. I did, however, purchase gold after watching GF for only about five minutes, since I knew then I would be using it regularly, and I always pay my way. Just as I only bought AutoCad LT, since I have no need for the full-blown professional version, I only bought the weenie-version of G-Force. If and when I ever feel the need to display in public, I will undoubtedly buy Pro. Take care.

If it's any consolation for PC users, the MAc version of Darkroom only partially works. It refuses to play scripts.

only if those "most folks" are people who have MACs. i'd certainly rather see a product like darkroom in advance of a new version of G-Force. The G-Force product is already one of the best vizualizers out there. And there is not a single product out there for Windows that does what Darkroom does. I've tried screen capture programs - they just don't work well.

i take issue with statements suggesting that a Windows user should go out and buy a MAC simply to take advantage of this one application. you're better off just dumping Windows support altogether than outwardly suggesting your Windows-based customers should sit in the back seat.

Frankly, im likely not to renew simply because G-Force does everything i need it to do until *someone* comes up with a good visualizer recording tool.
