Breakthrough!

I can now listen to music on MusicBee, with G-Force standalone running and responding to the sounds to make the pretties. This is accomplished through the use of a piece of software called VoiceMeeter. Linkeroo:

https://vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/index.htm

Finding this solution involved about four hours of research and experimentation. It's not perfect. To get it to work, I have to modify my sound settings in Windows to set the VoiceMeeter as my default output device (instead of my regular speakers) and run the VoiceMeeter app. I have configured the app to output to my speakers, and I have selected the VoiceMeeter audio input source in G-Force Standalone. And it works!

So why isn't it perfect? My system volume doesn't function when I'm using VoiceMeeter. I have dedicated volume controls on my keyboard; it's super convenient for changing the volume and muting and whatnot. With VoiceMeeter running, these controls no longer function. I have to adjust the volume in software. Either on the VoiceMeeter app, or in MusicBee. So when I'm not zoning out on G-Force, I switch my sound settings back to using my speakers. Basically, VoiceMeeter is for G-Force and nothing else. So as a result, I can't just run G-Force; it's multistep process to get everything going. Worth it? Yeah, totally.

If anybody has any questions I'll be happy to answer them.

I'm glad you were able to get everything working. I actually use software from the same company to make G-Force work on my Mac.

Hi Ethan,

Thanks for your patience.

This is on a hit list of items this week for one more point release on all the products...

Once that clears (along with my rent check yikes), we're closer to G-Force 6. The precursor to that is a new payment backend system which is essential but has been a slog until there is enough capital for more than just Andy's two lil paws.

Andy

Thanks Andy! It's so difficult when you have to do everything yourself. Keep fighting the good fight!

So I've taken a close look at the latest version of iTunes on Windows...

Apple has switched to using the MS Store and has removed support for 3rd party visuals. This means what on Windows, G-Force and others for the MS Store-based iTunes is no longer possible.

Although this is sad news, I am closing in the all-new software that will effectively be its own media player (with visuals).

Sad these other companies aren't too interested in the user experience beyond what matters to their interests.

Yep, that sounds like Apple.

Good on you for rolling your own! I will be waiting to see what you've up with.
