Album Art & J.River Media Center - Client access

Post by Bryan »

I'm running G-Force Gold 2.65 with J.River Media Center 10.149 as a client to another machine running J.River Media Server. Album art isn't showing up in this configuration.

Album art is embedded in the file (APE 2.0) tag AND as a separate jpeg file in each folder.

If I copy the MC database to the client and open it locally it works.

Is this known or something that can/will be addressed in a future release?

Thanks
Bryan

Hi Bryan,

Just for my own edification, does album art show up in other visualizations using this configuration? I thought I remember album art not being streamed with Media Center's Media Server.

Thanks.

mysticeti - Yes, album art works in all the standard included visualizations that I've tried.

Andy - Can't find a mini announcement in this forum..

I'll give the latest build a try...

I'm running 2.67 and it's still not working. I get the song/artist/album info just fine but the album art isn't coming across. I've checked it with MP3 files also it doesn't work with them either. I installed the JRiver-only version of G-Force.

Thanks

do you know what the pathname would look like? My best guess is GF is getting tripped up on that.

When you are connected to Media Server, the filenames show up in the library in this form:

m01p://192.168.0.10:8880/M:\MediaLibrary\MP3s\Allan, Cameron\1987-The Umbrella Woman\11.The Umbrella Woman.mp3
Cheers

Sorry for the delayed response..

[/quote] do you know what the pathname would look like? My best guess is GF is getting tripped up on that.

My path scheme is probably a bit out of the ordinary however I've tried it with files stored in one global directory with the same results..

I store my files using the following scheme:

M:\Music\A~Z\Artist\Album\Artist - Album - Year - Track - Song.ape

M:\Music\A\Aerosmith\Rocks\Aerosmith - Rocks - 1976 - 06 - Nobody's Fault.ape

M:\Music\M\Massive Attack\Mezzanine\Massive Attack - Mezzanine - 1998 - 01 - Angel.ape

Album art is stored in the file tag and also in the album subdirectory as :

Artist - Album.jpg
AND
Cover.jpg

Obviously I need to learn about using the quote feature..

I just tried 2.68 and I'm getting a black box next to the text info but only for some songs and only for a short while. It stops appearing pretty soon. Restarting Media Center brings it back but again only for a short period. It''s not quite there yet but at least there is some progress .. :)
