Soundcard advice

Post by Linvincible »

Hi guys,

I use the spdif input of my soundcard to have G-Force react on any sound playing on the hi-fi.
unfortunately I was ill-advised to purchase a terratec aureon space
and this sound card does not support 5.1 in optical input, only stereo
so when I play a cd or mp3s I can have G-Force, but not for moviz

by the way I hate this soundcard, drivers and soft are really bad

Could you tell me if 5.1 DTS is supported on your soundcards on the optical in please?
it's not the kind of info we find on the specs sheets...

thanks in advance!

The website for Terratec seems to be down. To get the optical input you need a different wire from the hifi than the stereo input that is working for you. If you do have an optical input into the sound card you probably need to select a different input than the stereo input by using SHIFT-A inside of G-Force standalone.

Where are you playing the movie, on the PC or on a seperate DVD player? If on the PC, G-Force would have to be a plug-in to your movie playing software. Standalone version wouldn't work that way.

thanks chkman,

the settings work when it's a stereo stream but don't when it's a 5.1.
source is always the dvd player (from pre-amp optical out, I also tried directly from dvd player so the problem is really on the soundcard)
I had the confirmation from terratec support that the optical input supports stereo stream only

as far as I remember, when I played (ha ha, I wrote payed  ) movies on my pc g-force was working absolutely fine in standalone if I selected the entry "stereo mix", but it's not the setup any more

so can anybody out there confirm me that on their sound card the optical input manages the 5.1 DD and DTS ?

I might as well go on a soundblaster forum ;-)
