Full screen letterboxing on cinema display in iTunes

Post by flamesong »

Hi,

I did several searches before I eventually decided to post because I really don't want to waste anybody's time but I didn't really get any working answers so forgive me if this seems like a repetition.

I just renewed my Gold license andupgraded to G-Force 2.8.1 and was running it on my Dual G4 with 23" display and after changing the resolution to 1920 x 1200 I found that there was a 'blank' band at the top and bottom and all background images are squashed vertically - the animation barely covers half the screen. I say blank because it seemed to be the background colour, not black. I followed several pieces of advice on here such as deleting preferences etc. I have re-installed G-Force and tried everything I can think of but I can't seem to find a solution.

The G-Force standalone version works fine. That's what confuses me most!

the stand alone version uses a seperate config to the one in itunes, so try and compare the two configs

what your looking for in the config is

UpCk=1
FRge=1
CCal=.059999
TTxt=1
MaxX=10000
MaxY=768 <----- this line here which you should change to 1200
WTrn="i^1.6"
FFde=.2
TSze=20
FSrt=28
Flow=1
FTrn="i^1.3"
CTrn="i^1.5"
NoBo=0

I am not up on were exscactly G-force stores its seperate configs under OSX as i am on PC but i am sure if you know where the current config for itunes is seeing hows you deleted it already, then its just a case of editing it as i said.
I'll come to bed once i've seen everything in G-Force.

Thanks for that. The (Standalone) Preferences have the MaxY setting to 10000 which I tried in the (iTunes) Preferences but that just reset itself to 768. I changed it to 1200 and the display then had borders on the sides.

This is how the settings are now:

MaxX=10000
MaxY=1200

I'm not too worried about G-Force not using the maximum resolution anyway now as I have discovered that the optimum resolution is somewhat lower. But thanks again.

As long as we're on the subject:

When I burn DVDs of my Darkroom scripted songs for watching on my TV, I'm aware that the 720x480 Quicktime movies I'm creating are cropped on the edges. I have no problem with that. But let's suppose I win the Lottery and splurg on a widescreen TV (Digital HD, size of Pamela Anderson's chest), is there a way to get Darkroom (or G-Force engine) to do the 16:1 format, utilizing all the viewable field?

I know that when I create a DVD I can make it "letterboxed" in any number of Applications, but there's not much point of that if G-Force is only creating a 720x480 window.

Is it simply a matter of changing the Window size in Darkroom, or do I need to edit a config file in G-Force itself? As I'm typing I realize that I could render the same script with two different output sizes—one for traditional screen proportions, and one that would be letterboxed. And then make a plain DVD and a leterboxed version for my post Lottery Theater.

I suppose I should just try it... but any pointers would be appreciated.
