Configuration of screenshot: How to capture or save?

1. Is it possible to capture or save the instantaneous configuration on the screen?

2. Is it possible to tag a screenshot with its underlying configuration?

All you have to do is press the ` key to get an instant screencap.

If I'm understanding your second question rightly, the titles to the configs as the screenshot is being made are disabled at that moment.

It used to be possibe to get the titles to show, though. And I'm not sure if its even optional now.

Thanks for the info.

It just seems that when a slideshow is running, it's a bit of a pain that there's no hotkey to capture the configs I really like, or ones I mix and match myself with slideshow off. Oh well.

Hi Winsailor,
Like you, I like to document particularly interesting screenshots, and I was disappointed when Andy removed text displays from snapshot a few versions ago. There is a way, however, to work around this if you are running Windows. It's not nearly as clean as pressing the back-quote key, but it's better than nothing. To get a snapshot with text, make sure the G-Force window is highlighted, has the focus, whatever you want to call it. Hit the R-key to display the active configs, then hit Alt-PrintScrn, which will copy only that window to the Clipboard. Then open MS-Paint or some other graphics program, hit Ctl-V to paste the image, and then save it to whatever name and format you prefer. Like I said, it ain't clean, but it gets the job done.

Thanks a bunch for reminding me of the good old print-screen method of capturing the active window image. Duh! I really feel kinda lame to have forgotten about it. I was taken aback when I failed to get the text on a screenshot after I donwloaded v.2.8.1. So I come to the forum, and I'm reading somebody's comments about the 2.8.1, and they're saying something like, "I'm happy to see that Andy finally 'fixed' [my quotes] the problem with the text capture on the screenshots as I was spending a lot of time erasing the text in the image editor..." I was aghast at once again finding myself the victim of hit-and-run bad luck: I mean, I'm only using this neat 'feature' for about a week before it gets 'fixed' because it was somebody else's bug?.... gimme a break!

Oh well. Thanks again, Toby, for both your advice and the insanity check it provided!

What we really need is for Andy to set up a on/off switch for text in the snapshots. Omitting text is usually great... other times the text is needed. ANDY!!! Can you hear me??? Hint, hint, hint !
