G-Force toolbar is empty

Post by captain trips »

Hi, I am running Windows 8 64 bit, and I have downloaded and installed G-Force Platinum. v4.4.0

The problem is the toolbar has nothing in it! The boxes with the waveshape colormap and flowfield boxes are empty. The drop down boxes (particles images and waveshapes are also empty.
I have used G-force on many computers over many years and I've never encountered this before.

My last PC using windows 8 was fine, although that was 32 bit

I've tried re-installing but it's still the same.

One more odd thing is, the 3 vertical buttons on the toolbar, I have to click from red to green, before they usually turn green automatically
Anybody any ideas?
thanks
Dave

Hello captain trips
jerohm wrote:I believe your situation is that on most systems, 32 bit versions play nice with the toolbar, and there are some issues with 64 bit versions. Standalone is shipped in BOTH 32 ans 64 bit flavors, defaulting to 64 bit (on 64 bit OSs anyway). You can (manually) link to the 32 bit version. WinAmp and WMP are still 32 bit plugins and should work. All should be clear and stated on the startup splash screen.

Just to be completely clear... EVEN if the blue area has data, selecting doesn't work for ME (Win7/GF5), BUT if you use the dropdown menus to select, THEY DO.

Thanks for the reply,
on the thread linked, as far as I understand, it suggests starting WMP and then seeing if the toolbar is as normal. But that didn't work, it is still the same.

One thing that does work, is the 'goal/frame rate' slider and the 'visual responses' slider.
Also on the end of the toolbar, the 'enters/exits full screen mode' button works, and right clicking exits the full screen.

To be honest, that's all I need (is to slow or speed up the frame rate etc)

I've not set it up yet, but the 'use external folder' option tab brings 'browse' up, so that should work.

So I guess this 64 bit OS I have, is maybe is causing compatibility issues..

* just seen another post above, just to be clear myself, the blue boxes are empty and also the drop down menus are all empty*

**an important edit/update**

**Well would you believe it? I just set up my 'use external folder' and that worked fine, closed the toolbar, and then reopened it and voila!

all the blue boxes are full now!!

maybe it was all a dream? :?:

so.....conclusion is that suggestion on the other thread about WMP works!

so thanks for that , hope I've not wasted anybody's time too much..

There are two issues with the toolbar

First , The Apple "Bonjour" can stop the toolbar in its tracks.

I don't think it has been fixed yet

Second, the 64 bit Toolbar is broken.

Since there was a number of people here who wanted to keep the old toolbar SS have included the toolbar in the new version but there are still bugs.

Hopefully they will resolve these issues soon.
