Hello Saturn7

Your best bet is to Log In to Spotify/Click Help/Click Spotify Community, and post your question on their forum.

I use Soundflower from Cycling74 to route Spotify thru and make G-Force listen to that input in the prefs. I'm on a Mac.

Considering I just paid $30 for something described (at http://www.soundspectrum.com/g-force/standalone.html) as

G-Force Standalone - Visualize Any Audio Source...

G-Force Standalone enables you to visualize anything you can hear

BTT's response is rather disappointing

Does G-Force Standalone do what they claim or not ?

Their description could be worded better but Soundspectrum products only work for supported audio drivers and players if you don't see it in the list then its not supported . (yet)

Hello Nigel

Click on this link for the list of supported audio players G-Force is compatible with:

http://www.soundspectrum-forums.com/vie ... php?t=6320

I am sorry you were disappointed with my response, to the best of my knowledge there are no users of the forum using Spotify with G-Force. I therefore believed pointing Saturn7 to the Spotify forum was my best option.

You could if you wish contact SoundSpectrum direct by clicking on the following link:

Hello Nigel

Have just found this on the Spotify website. I know it refers to Aeon, but I thought it just might help.

Thanks for the prompt replies - I've found using a mic input works well when I'm using speakers, but further experiments are required for late sessions when the headphones have to come out.

Can you tell me if the standard audio from (say) IE pointed at youtube is hook-able ?

All I see as inputs are the 3 Sound Generators (Fluid, High Enery, Chill) and 2 microphones - built-in and a heasdset - I don't even see WMP

thanks again...

Hi again - it's an Acer Aspire Z5700 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
with built-in Realtek High Def Audio v 6.0.1.6051
the cans are USB Plantronics .Audio 400 DSP v 6.1.7601.17514
YouTube currently plays through IE 9.0.8112.16421 / Adobe Flash 11,6,602,180

I realised 'standard audio' was a bit of a naive way to describe it after I posted :o)

thanks

seems to me that your soundcard should be listed in the audio options.

The windows 7 volume mixer is not what I would call intuitive, I had a bit of trouble when hooking my stuff up. make sure you have the right audio source set in the "device" section, make the necessary change (if there is one to be made) and restart you computer . then check to see if your new audio option something like Real tech HD is visible in G-force

If I click on 'Mixer' under the volume control from the System Tray...

The Volume Mixer control panel opens with sections labelled 'Device' and 'Applications'

+- the section labelled 'Device' has a Speaker icon that opens a control panel called 'Speakers Properties'
| . |
| . | below that icon is a pull-down selector with the options:
| . |
| . +- Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)
| . +- Speakers (Plantronics .Audio 400 DSP)
|
| if I select Speakers (Plantronics .Audio 400 DSP)
|
| the Speakers Properties control panel has the tabs:
| General | Levels | Enhancments | Dolby | Advanced
|
+- the section labelled Applications is empty
.
.
. if I select Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)
.
| the Speakers Properties control panel has the following tabs if I reopen it:
| General | Levels | Enhancments | Dolby | Advanced
|
+- the section labelled 'Applications' shows two icons, 'System Sounds' and 'Spotify'
. |
. +- the 'System Sounds' icon opens a control panel called 'Sound' with the tabs:
. | Playback | Recording | Sounds | Communications
. | . . | . . . . . . . . | . . . . . . . | . . . . . . |
. | . . | . . . . . . . . | . . . . . . . | . . . . . . +- Telephony options
. | . . | . . . . . . . . | . . . . . . . |
. | . . | . . . . . . . . | . . . . . . . +- Windows system sound config
. | . . | . . . . . . . . |
. | . . | . . . . . . . . +- Microphone / Plantronics .Audo 400 DSP
. | . . | . . . . . . . . +- Mic in at front panel (Pink) - Not plugged in
. | . . | . . . . . . . . +- Microphone / Realtek High Definition Audio
. | . . | . . . . . . . . +- Line in at rear panel (Blue) - Not plugged in
. | . . |
. | . . +-Speakers (Plantronics .Audio 400 DSP)
. | . . +-Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)
. |
. +- the Spotify icon does nothing[/code]

After a restart with Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) selected, G-Force's Audio Input Source still offers me the same 5 options :

Sound Generator (Fluid)
Sound Generator (High Energy)
Sound Generator (Chill)
Microphone (Plantronics .Audo 400 DSP)
Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)

To summarise, G-Force appears to be looking at the 'Recording' devices and not the 'Playback' ones.

I hope this renders prettier than it looks to me right now...

Thanks - never heard of Stereo Mix before - un-hid it and switched it on and got some unpleasant reverb / feedback, but it still doesn't 'tickle' G-Force and though it shows a pulse on the signal bar in Control Panel when something is playing I can't appear to record from it. Tried muting it to kill the reverb - it fixed that but sill no apparent pickup by G-Force Standalone.

I'll look at finding "Sound Preamp Scale" and "Sound Response Scale next and maybe try Stereo Mix unmuted but some other sources muted (though that sounds unintuitive) but out of time for this round

cheers,

- Nigel

Sound card output in Window

Post by cwoolrich »

this may help. it worked for me in Vista.
"
In Vista I could not find the option to turn on this Mix so I thought it may have been removed in the new Sound stack, but after some searching I found that it hadn’t been removed just hidden.

To enable the Wave Out mix:

Go to the Sound item in control panel
click on the Recording tab
Right click on the background of the tab and select "Show Disabled Devices"
find the Wave Out mix item and right click on it and select Enable
It will now show up as a device channel in application like Cubase and Audition"
